Hello Blurt Community Members,

With this Post, let me share some dev updates which I have been doing on blurt - pwa app.

Demo Items

NOTE: For the first time, it will take long time to load, please stay on the same screen to finish the lifetime history cache. Next time onwards, it will be fast with caching.

Blurt Chat

  • All the messages are ON-Chain.
  • It sends 0.001 BLURT along with message.
  • Messages are not encrypted at the moment because it's not supported by whalevault

How to launch Blurt Chat?

  • Open Side menu
  • Click on Blurt Chat
  • I request you to wait here - It is loading life time history.
  • It will take some time, stay on same screen while it loads the entire history

List of 1-to-1 chats.

  • Here is how it looks - the one-to-one chat.
  • It will show total messages exchanged.
  • It will also show the last message preview.
  • User's profile pic & user's name will be shown.

Conversation

  • You can send message.
  • Sent message will be appended & shown at the end.
  • NOTE: Messages are not encrypted at the moment. So, please don't exchange sensitive information. It will stay forever on chain.
  • As soon as WhaleVault/Keychain issue is fixed, App will support encrypted messages.

Where's daily updates?

  • Instead of providing daily small updates, I am putting updates in bulk.
  • As you can see in this post, I worked on quite a lot of features.
  • Almost all of the features, which were based on posting key, now been migrated to keychain

What's next?

  • Demo video for pwa.blurt.blog on BlurtKey with iOS & Android
  • Use actual iPhone & Android device & capture video.

    Not bad. still get to grips with encryption and it can be promoted as one of the cool things on our blockchain.

    As for encryption, I thought so... because you will probably want to encrypt the memo, and if so, generate an additional password for the user that would encrypt it twice? Then you know ... someone could even hack into your account and get to know your memo from somewhere, but they still wouldn't know this additional password invented by the user and thanks to that, they wouldn't be able to decrypt the content of the sent message anyway.

    I think I found a work around. I'll work on it & have encrypted messages soon.

    So, encrypted messages are dependent on WhaleVault Extension.
    WhaleVault extension has some issues with Encryption.
    Due to that, messenger can not send encrypted messages.
    As soon as it is fixed on WhaleVault, Blurt Chat will have encrypted messages by default.
