After months of training and waiting, it was the final day to complete his revenge mission. It was night and dark, Dino and his rebel troops silently moved down from their territory to invade Mr. David’s residence in the village. They were armed with a carbine and M1 Garand rifles. The plan was to massacre the couple and their son. As soon as they arrived near enough to the house, it was bright because Mr. David was using a Petromax lamp. When the troops were getting ready to fire, he saw another lady show up in a window realizing that there was another person inside other than the three-family member. Since it was his mission, Dino was given the authority to command the troops that night.
Tras meses de entrenamiento y espera, era el día definitivo para completar su misión de venganza. Era de noche y estaba oscuro, Dino y sus tropas rebeldes bajaron silenciosamente de su territorio para invadir la residencia del Sr. David en el pueblo. Iban armados con una carabina y fusiles M1 Garand. El plan era masacrar a la pareja y a su hijo. En cuanto llegaron cerca de la casa, había mucha luz porque el Sr. David utilizaba una lámpara Petromax. Cuando las tropas se preparaban para disparar, vio aparecer a otra señora por una ventana, dándose cuenta de que había otra persona dentro aparte de los tres miembros de la familia. Como era su misión, Dino recibió la autoridad para comandar las tropas esa noche.
He commanded his troops to lower their rifles and wait till the other person leave the house as she is not part of the plan. After a few minutes of waiting, the lamp was shut down and there was no sign of the other persons leaving the house.
Ordenó a sus tropas que bajaran los fusiles y esperaran a que la otra persona saliera de la casa, ya que no formaba parte del plan. Tras unos minutos de espera, la lámpara se apagó y no había señales de que las otras personas abandonaran la casa.
The rebel troops were convincing him to give them the go signal, they don’t care about other persons being added to the casualties, they were there for his revenge mission and ready to do it right away. After a few minutes of waiting, the lamp was shut down and no one leave the house. Dino then decided to abort the massacre mission, he doesn’t want to hurt the innocent, and his revenge is limited and intended for Mr. David’s family only.
Las tropas rebeldes le estaban convenciendo para que les diera la señal de salida, no les importaba que otras personas se sumaran a las bajas, estaban allí para su misión de venganza y listos para hacerlo de inmediato. Tras unos minutos de espera, la lámpara se apagó y nadie salió de la casa. Dino decidio entonces abortar la mision de masacre, no quiere herir a inocentes, y su venganza es limitada y destinada solo a la familia del Sr. David.
He suddenly realized that killing the family would not solve his case, maybe it can lessen his anger but he might regret everything. He decided to pull back but return to their territory, bringing Mr. David's two carabaos. He was accused of stealing and selling carabaos, a crime he never did, that was his revenge, they took the two carabaos that night and return to their place without any trace. Mentioned in Part2
De repente se dio cuenta de que matar a la familia no solucionaria su caso, tal vez pueda disminuir su ira pero podria arrepentirse de todo. Decide retirarse pero volver a su territorio, llevando los dos carabaos del Sr. David. Fue acusado de robar y vender carabaos, un crimen que nunca hizo, esa fue su venganza, tomaron los dos carabaos esa noche y regresaron a su lugar sin dejar rastro. (Mencionado en la Parte2)
Dino was satisfied and consider it a mission accomplished, because of that, he was recommended by other members of the rebel group to be one of the leaders. He later realized that it was also part of his training as a new member of the rebels. Because he considered the mission to be done, then he was tested if he has the plan to return to his family and surrender himself to the authority and face his case. But, according to him, he found his family with them, he found true happiness with them.
Dino estaba satisfecho y lo considero una mision cumplida, por eso, fue recomendado por otros miembros del grupo rebelde para ser uno de los lideres. Más tarde se dio cuenta de que también formaba parte de su entrenamiento como nuevo miembro de los rebeldes. Como consideraba que la misión estaba cumplida, entonces se le puso a prueba si tenía el plan de volver con su familia y entregarse a la autoridad y hacer frente a su caso. Pero, según él, con ellos encontró a su familia, con ellos encontró la verdadera felicidad.
After just a couple of years with them, he was finally appointed as a commander in the favor of many other members. Before he became a commander he said, it was not easy, he wasted gallons of sweat and blood. Also, he mentioned that he used to secretly visit his family in the village at night for quiet sometimes. Also, some of his members would disguise themselves as government-roving soldiers just to check his family situation.
Tras sólo un par de años con ellos, finalmente fue nombrado comandante con el favor de muchos otros miembros. Antes de convertirse en comandante, dijo, no fue fácil, gastó litros de sudor y sangre. También mencionó que a veces visitaba en secreto a su familia en el pueblo por la noche para estar tranquilo. Además, algunos de sus miembros se disfrazaban de soldados del gobierno para comprobar la situación de su familia.
That was the story of my lost uncle. I am not sure if Mr. Berto was telling a true story or not, but according to my father, the story is really connected to what happened to his brother. I’m still hoping if he is still alive up to this date, he is very welcome and I want to know more about his life. I want to let him know that he still has his land property from his parents waiting for him.
Esa fue la historia de mi tío perdido. No estoy seguro de si el Sr. Berto estaba contando una historia real o no, pero según mi padre, la historia está realmente relacionada con lo que le ocurrió a su hermano. Sigo esperando que si sigue vivo hasta la fecha, es muy bienvenido y quiero saber más sobre su vida. Quiero hacerle saber que todavía tiene su propiedad de la tierra de sus padres esperando por él.
I’m sure there’s a question in his head, why has his family never ever tried to find him in the past decades? I did ask my father, why they never tried searching for his whereabouts, and he told me, he wanted to but if he was really one of the rebels, it’s hard, and our family would be in danger.
Estoy seguro de que se pregunta por qué su familia nunca ha intentado encontrarlo en las últimas décadas. Le pregunté a mi padre por qué nunca habían intentado dar con su paradero, y me dijo que quería hacerlo, pero que si realmente era uno de los rebeldes, era difícil y nuestra familia estaría en peligro.
I don’t know if I would be proud or ashamed of what he had become, from a poor kid to a rebel commander. If he is still alive, I hope he already turned to the government and left the revolutionary group.
No sé si estaría orgulloso o avergonzado de lo que había llegado a ser, de un niño pobre a comandante rebelde. Si sigue vivo, espero que ya se haya pasado al gobierno y haya abandonado el grupo revolucionario.
