Mary was the only child of her parents. She grew up in the village with her poor parents. Her parents brought her up well with honesty as her best policy.
Mary wrote her common entrance examination and passed in flying colors, because of her excellent results, she was awarded scholarship through her high school. On coming to the school, she became friends with the principal's daughter by name Grace.
Grace was also the only child of her parents and because of that she was pampered by her parents and she grew up as a spoilt brat. Mary helps Grace in academics and laundry while Grace in turn shares her pocket money and provisions with her. After their high school they both got admission into the same college school. Grace parents agreed to sponsor Mary in school because her parents couldn't afford to do so.
One fateful day during their examinations, Grace was copying answers from a piece of paper she took into the exam halls, and when she saw the lecturer coming her way she threw the paper to her class girl. The lecturer seized the girl's answer sheet and wrote malpractice on her sheet. The girl was made to face malpractice panel and was found guilty of malpractice and was rusticated from the school. While the investigation was going on, Mary was in the hostel thinking about her innocent classmate who will suffer for what she knows nothing about. Being an honest person Mary took the risk of reporting Grace to the school authorities not minding the consequences which could be the end of her education because Grace's parent will stop paying her school fees. The innocent girl was vindicated. Grace was rusticated from the school and because of what happened Grace parents stopped paying Mary's school fees. They also asked her to leave their daughter's house. Mary suffered tooth and nail to see herself through school. Several years later Mary submitted her CV in a company for a job. After some days, Mary got a mail inviting her to the interview. She was told that the company was looking for an honest person that will take the position of the chief accountant of the company. When she got to the interview room, she was so shocked when she found out that the lady she defended years back in college was the owner of the company and she was given the job automatically with a mouthwatering salary and incentives.
