BLOOD GROUPS
Blood group is the grouping of antigens and antibodies in the surface of the red blood cells.
It's hereditary, which means that you can inherit it either from your mother or father.
We have four types of blood group determined by the presence of antigen A or B, They includes.

Blood is also grouped into eight types based on the Rhesus factor which can be negative (-) or positive (+).
They're

BLOOD TYPES COMPATIBILITY.
A person with blood group A+ can only receive blood from blood groups A+, A-, O+ and O-. They can only donate blood to A+ and AB+.

A person with blood group B+ can only receive blood from blood groups B+, B-, O- and O+. They can only donate blood to B+ and AB+.

A person with blood group B- can only receive blood from B- and O. They can only donate to B-, B+, AB+ and AB-.

People with blood group AB+ are general recipient, this means that they can receive blood from everyone. They can only donate blood to AB+.

A person with blood group AB- can only receive blood from blood groups AB-, A-, B- and O-. They can only donate blood to AB- and AB+.

A person with blood group O+ can only receive blood from O- and O+. They can only donate blood to A+, B+, AB+ and O+.

People with blood group O- are known as the general donor. This means that they can donate blood to anybody, they can only receive blood from blood group O-. This particular blood group is very scare because it's used by everyone.
Tests like ABO typing and blood test kit are used to determine various blood types.

BLOOD TRANSFUSION
This is a life saving process whereby blood gotten from donors are transferred to individual with shortage of blood. Even in this 21st century, they're some churches and individuals that don't believe in blood transfusion.

USES OF BLOOD TRANSFUSION
Used during childbirth.
Used during Loss of blood during accident.
Used by anaemic patients and patients suffering from terminal diseases like Leukemia etc.

BLOOD BANK:This is a place where the hospital stores blood

BLOOD DONORS: These are people who donates their blood.
There is need for proper identification, grouping and screening of blood before transfusion inorder to avoid infections and agglutination.

AGGLUTINATION Is the clumping of blood, which occurs when blood mix together with antibody which it's not compatible with. It leads to death.

HYDROCORTISONE INJECTION is an
injection keep handy during blood transfusion in the hospital in the case of any reactions from the receiver.
Some of these reactions are chills, pain, headache, fever, jerking etc.
Even though our health workers are very careful when it comes to blood grouping and screening, sometimes they make mistakes and these mistakes can be very disastrous. These mistakes can lead to
Agglutination
Coma
Shock
End organ damage.
