A changing weather
Have you ever wondered what is wrong with our change in weather conditions? Well I've did and I'm sure you might as well. The weather changes has become a major concern to us because it's no longer easy to predict it like it was before. Before now, our ancestors can easily look at the sky and say, it's going to rain at this time and end at this time but now, even the weather forecast gets it wrong at times. And all these happens as a result of changes in our weather conditions.
It's a new week and it's really timely to talk on our weather condition. Here in Delta state, warri to be precise it has been raining every day since the past two weeks now and it's still going to rain because this is the season for rain. I don't really like the rainy season because it's not so good for me but there is nothing I can do, it's the time for rain so let it do what it has to do. Now the thing that gets us concerned is not the rain, it is the heavy rain 😑.
Yesterday I went for an introduction, when I got there I saw a place a little far away from the venue it was flooded and there were houses there and I saw some little children crossing the water to their homes, I felt for them because the weather was cold yet they still had to pass through the water to get home. Sometimes I just feel the heavy rain is a punishment to us for not caring enough for our ecosystem. You can imagine us burning all sorts of things almost every day, throwing away refuges and sewages in the gutters or even on the roads.
How has the weather affected me?
The truth is that weather is not okay for me, I can barely go out to do anything except if I have something very important to do. I can't even sleep well because of the cold, all my body hurts really badly because my body does not feel comfortable and relaxed, I'm not just okay with this season at all especially now that it rains almost every day and any time. If the rain was not falling every day I'm sure nobody will want to complain but that's not the case now. We have done so much harm to our beloved earth and now our climate is changing almost every season and it's making our bodies find it hard to easily adjust to the change.
I remember when I was little, I always saw people throwing all sorts of things in the water so that the water will float them away. But when the rain stops, we find out that our environment becomes more dirty and unkempt and still people never repented of this act and I even did it too. Now I'm wondering what damages I've caused and many others too. We have contributed to these changes that is happening no matter how small you thought it was, I'm sure by now you might have seen that it has effects now, not just on you but on the ecosystem.
Do well to give answers to this question as you read
Is your environment free from flood? Do you feel the impact of our dirty surroundings when it rains? Are you part of those that cause our environments to be unhealthy? Have you ever thought it can change? What are you doing seeing that the situation is affecting the homeless? Are you part of those that do not care where you drop your waste? Do you keep your surroundings clean? Have you ever showed an example to a child or someone by picking up a dirt from the ground? Are you doing those things because others are doing it and no one is complaining?
There are many more questions that have been running through my mind while making this post but I will just leave us to ponder on these few and I hope if you are affected just like I am, I will advise you be the change you want to see or experience. It's never to late to make amends, as long as there is life, there is hope. This is the time to do our part and encourage others to do the same. And if you know you can't do it, do well to encourage those that are willing to do it by appreciating them in anyway you can.
All we need is ACT
I've said a lot but that's not what is really needed, what we need now is ACTION, we have to act and not just sit there and keep making good suggestions.
