Video games addiction has been a really alarming issue in the world today.
Focus on Parents
Parents now find it hard to relate well with their children and vice verse, all because of their addiction to video games. Games are what we normally play just to have fun. We have both indoor and outdoor games but nowadays, most children are involved in more of indoor games than outdoor games.
For the fun
It's unwise to just stop our children or younger once from playing games because they need to have fun but we just have to be on the watch for them like we should. As a parent or guardian, we should not be overprotective of our wards because once they realize or think you are being overprotective, they always lock themselves away from you and when this happens, the next resort is to play a game so they can be happy.
Mistakes
As parents or guardians, we have a very vital role to play in the lives of our children or wards being addicted to video games and even their phones. We should always try to engage our children in creative activities to help bring the best out of them but unfortunately, most parents are not always there for their children when they need them the most. And when they see that they don't get the attention they need, they start looking for something else to give their time to.
These young ones now resort in playing video games and with time if the parents still don't show concern, they start getting bound to the game thereby making themselves a slave to it because at that point, they only listen to what the games tell them to do. At this point, most parents starts complaining about the child's behavior and start calling them names (wrong) which is not what they really need at that time.
Speak In love
When parents sees what their children are now turning into, all they need to do is speak to them in love and not curse at them. Love is a very strong weapon that can mend broken relationships. As a parent, start creating time for such child and if possible, play a game with him even if you don't know how, ask him or her to teach you and the child will be so happy to do that.
Playing to earn
Well there are some cases when some persons play these video games not just for fun but they so earn from it. In this case, it is more of benefit to the person. In every game, there is always a lesson to be learnt, it can be, staying focused, overcoming obstacles, making research and even thinking fast. Now all these are all important even in our everyday life and the fact one can earn from playing these games makes it a win-win for them.
Sometimes, even as one plays these games and get paid, once there's any trait of addiction it becomes unacceptable. Being addicted to anything is a very wrong thing because you only find joy listening to that thing. You can barely give your time to anything else and that is no longer normal.
