Sunshine, Allergies & Low Immunity
I had some business on the other side of town today and I decided to walk most of the way. This was because the sun was out today, even though it was pretty cold, so I wanted to bask in the glorious rays. It'd been a while.
A major benefit of the being out in the sun, of course, is Vitamin D. But, who am I kidding, I probably made next to no Vitamin D in the sun today, especially since only my face and fingers were exposed to the sun. That's the thing in cold countries. Not only is sunshine rare, when it does happen, it's often too cold to capitalise on it. Summer months are a little different when the days are twice as long and, thankfully, summer is coming.
Our immune systems are pretty low at the moment, following many months of social distancing, so the bugs are set to do a number on us this season. I already caught a common cold. My nephew is currently throwing is guts up with a stomach bug that's making the rounds. I hope I don't get that - I'm not a big fan of stomach bugs. Hopefully all the zinc and Vitamin C I've been taking have done their job to fortify my defences.
There's also hay fever to not look forward to. I used to get pretty badly affected by pollen grains in the air every spring and summer, but it's been a long time since I truly suffered from it. My symptoms nearly vanished since giving up milk and most dairy products a decade ago. I don't know what the relationship is between dairy products and pollen allergies, but I'm grateful for the relief 🌸
Peace & Love,
Adé
