Pie with cheese, spinach and leek - perfect for breakfast

in blurtchef •  2 years ago

Hello blurtiants and food lovers. If you need an idea for breakfast or dinner, I will share with you a recipe for a simple and very tasty pie. 😊

1.jpg

I'm a fan of dough and pastries, especially when it's homemade. When I was a child, I loved the pie that my grandmother used to make and I tried to learn so that I could make it when she was gone. I've never been able to make it exactly like her, but I improve with each new attempt. 😊

I made this pie last night and for the filling, I had cheese, spinach, and leeks. You can put whatever you want.

So let's start. 😊

Ingredients:

  • flour
  • dry yeast (5g)
  • half a teaspoon of sugar
  • a teaspoon of salt
  • 300 ml of water
  • oil or lard
  • 4 eggs
  • spinach
  • cheese
  • leeks
  • tablespoon of cornmeal
  • 200g (cup) of sour milk
  • a little milk to sprinkle on top of the pie

Determine the quantity of ingredients for the filling according to your taste.

Put a little dry yeast, half a teaspoon of sugar, and a teaspoon of salt in the dough mixing bowl.

3.jpg

Add 300ml of lukewarm water and then gradually add flour until you have kneaded a dough that does not stick to the walls of the bowl.

4.jpg

Cover the dough while you make the filling.

5.jpg

Wash the spinach.

6.jpg

Chop it up.

7.jpg

Salt the spinach and then add 1 tablespoon of cornmeal.

9.jpg

Chop the leek.

10.jpg

Add chopped leeks and cheese to the mixture.

11.jpg

12.jpg

Beat 4 eggs with a fork.

13.jpg

14.jpg

Add beaten eggs and sour milk. I don't know if sour milk is available in your stores. It's a thick yogurt, a little thinner than sour cream, but you can put sour cream instead of sour milk, you won't go wrong.

15.jpg

16.jpg

Stir the mixture.

17.jpg

Uncover the dough.

18.jpg

Divide it into one larger and one smaller ball.

19.jpg

And then divide the smaller ball into 4 small balls.

20.jpg

Roll out the larger ball and thin it out with a rolling pin.

21.jpg

Coat it with melted lard or oil. I mixed lard and oil.

22.jpg

Now cut it like in the photo and overlap the cut parts from the end towards the middle to form a ball again.

23.jpg
Roll out that ball again.

24.jpg
Place the crust in a baking pan.

25.jpg
Coat it with oil or lard.

26.jpg

Place the filling over the crust and then roll out one of the 4 smaller balls with a rolling pin.

27.jpg

Place it on top and repeat the process (crust, coating, filling) with the remaining 3 balls.

28.jpg

29.jpg

Finish with the filling and then put the crust that is outside the baking pan over the filling. Coat the pie on top with a little lard or oil and milk. And it's ready to bake.

30.jpg

Bake it for about half an hour at 230 degrees.

31.jpg

32.jpg

And now enjoy its taste.

It can be eaten with yogurt for breakfast or dinner. My grandmother did it much better than me, but I still practice making it and it turns out better every time. 😊

Thank you very much for reading.

The image and writing are original and mine.

Greetings!

The spinach together with the cheese gives it a very special flavor @jelenaa.
