It would have been ridiculous to expect Germany to qualify for the World Cup in England when Steven Knox took over as coach in 2014. AFP met with Germany coach Joachim Low, a former Scotland player. This year, Germany will compete in its first major cricket championship, the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia.
ICC associate member finished second in the 2021 European qualifier to qualify for the 2022 ICC Global Qualifier in Oman. Despite their inexperience, Knox is optimistic about Germany's chances of qualifying for the World Cup with just three wins.
I won't say it's impossible. But not always. To make that happen, we'd need to meet with several teams on their off days. "I am 48 years old," he exclaims, a smile on his face.
