Whether zakat and sadaqa can be used for economic welfare and development. In answer to this question, it can be said that the main purpose of zakat and charity is to achieve economic welfare. But in this case one thing has to be deeply understood.

That is, if economic welfare and development means the welfare and development of the whole country and the whole nation, then the use of zakat and sadaqa for this purpose is not valid. I have already discussed the use of zakat.

Zakat should be aimed at ensuring that no person in the society is deprived of his basic human needs - food, clothing, shelter, medical treatment and education of his children. In addition, with the help of zakat we can meet the economic needs of a section of the society who are not qualified to make efforts for earning money.

Orphans, the elderly, the crippled, the disabled or the temporarily unemployed or those who are unable to earn money due to lack of opportunities and means and may become self-reliant with a little help.

Zakat has been prescribed to help those who have accidentally suffered any loss. And for the economic development of the common man, zakat should be increased in other ways.
