WHEN THE HELPER GOES IN SEARCH

in r2cornell •  2 years ago

In our normal scheme of affairs, it is those who need help who go in search of their helpers and everyone seems to accept that as the norm. For me the best show of humanity and love is going in search for those who need help and rendering that help if one can.

However, what we find is quite the opposite, as we find very kind hearted people who are willing to help but who are waiting for the needy to come to them and request before they can be moved to help. We condemn those who make demands or attach selfish, ulterior conditions to their offer to help, we condemn those who humiliate help seekers or demand loyalty and subservience, we condemn those who take advantage of anyone seeking help. Nevertheless, these things will continue to happen until those with clean hearts and genuine intentions flood the help space. Therefore, instead of merely condemning those helping for not helping right, make up your mind to offer the right alternative, which is to help people selflessly, without dehumanizing them, without taking advantage of them or exploiting them in any way. Until we humans begin to do that en masse and establish it firmly as a culture, we have no right to complain about how those who do charity for the cameras or with ulterior motive choose to do what we were supposed to do but have refused to do.

There are those who may be shy, timid, or afraid and can't boldly ask for help, it is incumbent on all of us humans to go out in search of them and help them. This is urgently needed because there are so many in need of help out there, who are praying for helpers, you can become the answer to that prayer by reaching out to them in any way you can. You may not be able to solve the whole problem but you certainly can and should make a meaningful contribution. What is worse is to do nothing.
I dedicate this work to @elkezaksek who's humanitarian work in Uganda remains an example for all...
Peace be with you!

Thank you very much!
You are absolutely right.
If you want to help, you should get involved and not wait until someone asks.
Many people say to us :
"This is so great what you are doing. I want to do that too."
Our answer is always this:
"Then do it! You don't need money to offer help to someone,
because those in need of help are also in our neighborhood and help doesn't always cost money, sometimes it just costs time!
Give someone your attention, listen to them, help them with their errands, have a cup of coffee with them and help them forget their problems and loneliness for a moment! This costs no money and can be a great help...."

Unfortunately, there is also the other side.
Help that is exploited and helpers who are cheated.....

You are truly an example of a humanitarian... I really appreciate the work you are doing for the people. God will definitely reward you.

I don't need a reward...
Through my work I get a lot of beautiful moments back, namely when I look into happy faces and know exactly that the people, a few thousand kilometers away from me, are doing better.

But also here in Germany I help my neighbors and friends.
The joy and gratitude in the eyes of others and a smile...that is reward enough....

Wow!!! That's all I can say now... For all it's worth, I'll keep including you in my prayers
