My dreams vs my reality

in r2cornell •  3 years ago

I have always wanted to be a priest, infact I grew up idolizing some priests. I have always thought of the priesthood as a noble vocation such that at the age of 7 I was already an alter boy. But being a priest was not the only dream I had, nay! I had a long list of things I wanted to become when I grew up, one of which is becoming a model...

I have always loved the cameras and wanted the spotlight... I have always wanted to be on covers of magazines.... For the male child in Nigeria this type of dream would be hardly appreciated, so as I grew up, I learned to accept that that dream was not going to be possible. But did that stop me from loving the cameras??? Nah! I love the cameras and I think the cameras love me too.

One thing I came to accept is that I cannot be a model again, no matter how many pictures I take I wouldn't be advertising for any magazine as a priest, and yes I love the vocation to the priesthood. But if I cannot be a model, then I should at least be a role model for people by my way of living. Just as a model is someone that represents an inspirational ideal, a role model is someone who inspires others to imitate his or her good behavior.

The role of a mentor or role model is one I have gladly chosen now, because by trying to be a mentor to others, I become an inspiration to myself... As each day passes, I try to be the best version of myself knowing that there are people out there looking up to me.
This is my reality now versus the dream I once had... If you patiently read my post to this point, I will love you to share with me and everyone about what your dreams were or are versus your present reality... Game on!

Never dreamed anything, I just made life how I wanted it, I still do, when I wanted a shop I went and owned one, with very small money, when I wanted to be a mechanic in Grand - Prix racing I did it, I have this feeling, everyone, I mean "everyone" can achieve what they want, all it takes is self belief. Good looking dude you are, wrong sex for me. 👍

Wow! It's strange to hear that even as a kid one never had a vision of what he or she would love to become in future... That's the dream I am talking about... And you are very correct when you said everyone can achieve what they want through self belief... I think hardwork too... that's why I love the old classic song "You Can Get It If You Really Want" by Jimmy Cliff... Oh and thanks for the compliment about my looks, and I think it's a perfect sex for me.lol
