Food for Thoughts: OVERAMBITION

in r2cornell •  2 years ago

It is my considered opinion that while ambition is no crime, overambition can turn the finest man into the vilest man; hence the need to conscientiously watch against it. It blinds us to the things that really matter, sometimes causing us to sacrifice the most important things in mad pursuit of our overambitious goals.

Overambition makes us selfish and self-centered, narcissistic and unconcerned for the other and the common good. We have overambitious people in our personal lives as well as in our political space. While we are thinking about making Nigeria survive and be great, some people are only interested in their selfish gains as political candidates and supporters, those ones do not care if the country burns, provided they achieve their selfish ulterior targets, that's fine. This includes those who sell their votes on election day and vote people they cannot marry or employ to manage their personal business.

It must be restated that ambition is no crime, but overambition is a killer disease. It destroys the whole system for one person to succeed, and cares not about anything else. Overambitious politicians have sent us down this deadly slope, we must reject them and their agents, they are never about you but all about them and them only.

Allow God to bless you as he pleases, he has the best plans for you. Lobbying and trying to be too smart, or being overambitious is not the way to go. God knows what is best for each one of us and he has it all carefully arranged. What is yours will definitely come to you. Think first of the common good, and think about it always.

Peace be with you!
