Auuuuch!!!.... came a resounding cry from my room and I went straight to see what was wrong. It was my lovely sister, Amaka in an excruciating pain turning from one position to the other.I asked her if it was that time of the month for her. "Yes sister" she said still in tears.

I was among those lucky girls referred to as "God's favourite child" because I have never experienced period pains.
I felt sad seeing my baby sister in so much pain she cant control. I had to lay her on the bed and headed straight to kitchen to get a bottle of hot water so she could place on her abdomen.

"You can never get used to the pain and explaining it to people vwho doesn't experience it is almost impossible because they will not understand..." Amaka said.

But I understood very well because I am a medical professional, I have come across women with similar situation and they sometimes wish they were Males because of dsymenorrhea.

Most women say that menstrual cramps and labour pain are synonymous. Funny ryt? You can say it's literally one of the most painful things in the world.

It's like you're been punched inside your stomach, sharp objects poking through your abdomen coupled with back and inner thighs ache.

Sometimes resting your stomach on a pillow or finding an awkward position to sleep does the magic and when you think it's gone, it comes back with full force.

Ever wondered the cause of this dsymenorrhea? It ranges from primary dsymenorrhea which is as a result of menstruation which starts before one's period and may occur first and second day into the period. The symptoms include fatigue, diarrhea, nausea and mood swing.

The later which is the secondary dysmenorrhea is as a result of medical conditions like infection, fibroids, pelvic inflammatory disease and endometriosis.

Some people use flevin or pain relief drugs to manage dysmenorrhea but it is not safe to do so.You can try stuffs like placing a hot towel or bottle of hot water on your abdomen or herbal remedies like juice prepared from aloe vera, garlic and scent leaves.

Salute to woman who go through things that comes with been a woman and still try to maintain beauty.
