Last year I was finalizing some paperwork in the Caracas Center, and one of them was in the BANAVIH entity, there they had a very peculiar sculpture, it was in a corner of the patio and from the first day I started my paperwork, I drew attention.

El año pasado estuve finiquitando unos trámites en el Centro de Caracas, y uno de ellos fue en la entidad BANAVIH, allí tenían una escultura muy peculiar, estaba en un rincón del patio y que desde el primer día en que empecé mis trámites, me llamó la atención.

It is called The Great Lady Mantuana created in 1985, in bronze and green patina. It was initially located in the Museum of Contemporary Art with the name: "Coqueta" and then it began to be part of the BANAVIH Tower, located in El Rosal, Caracas - Venezuela, where I suppose, the name was changed.

Se llama La Gran Señora Mantuana creada en el año 1985, en bronce y pátina verde. Estuvo en un principio ubicada en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo con el nombre: "Coqueta" y luego comenzó a formar parte de la Torre BANAVIH, ubicada en el Rosal, Caracas - Venezuela, donde supongo, se le cambió el nombre.

This sculpture was made by the Venezuelan artist (painter, sculptor and muralist) Oswaldo Vigas. He studied medicine and graduated in 1951 but did not practice this profession since he loved art, so he continued his path as an artist and perfected himself in Paris.

Esta escultura fue realizada por el artista venezolano (pintor, escultor y muralista) Oswaldo Vigas. Quien estudió medicina y se graduó en 1951 pero no ejerció esta profesión ya que amaba el arte, por lo tanto siguió su camino como artista y se fue perfeccionando en París.

I was reading a lot of information about the artist but I wanted to get information regarding this sculpture, however I got very little. I wanted to know what the artist wanted to express through this sculpture, but I didn't get anything.

Estuve leyendo mucha información acerca del artista pero quería conseguir información referente a esta escultura, sin embargo fue muy poco lo que conseguí. Quería saber lo que quiso expresar el artista a través de esta escultura, pero no conseguí nada.

I only know that she is a Great Lady, perhaps she wanted to represent all the women in her, or some predominant woman in her life. I read that his mother and his wife were the ones who promoted her work and her life.

Solo sé que es una Gran Señora, tal vez quiso representar a todas las mujeres en ella, o alguna mujer predominante en su vida. Leí que su Madre y su esposa fueron quienes impulsaron su labor y su vida.
