You know what? I know I live in a country where things are currently becoming chaotic. The chaos in recent days has been beyond the stretch of my imagination. Yet, I wanted this particular weekend to be very peaceful and problem free for me.

What was I expecting in a country like mine?
Unexpected events started on Friday evening to throw the peacefulness of my weekend into question. It's funny how I still saw so many people in church today singing hymns with smiling faces. It reaffirms the age-long statement that 'Nigerians can pass through hell and still act like the world is their oyster'. We are specialists in holding our shit together. Haha.
While it will give me an adrenaline boost to nitpick our government and make caricatures of their really weird and oppressive policies, please be informed that this post is not a criticism of the Government. Nope. Not today. I don't want to start this new week with that.
This post is all about the citizens. Damn!
We all wail about the oppressive policy of Government, but you would be mistaken to assume you know how cunning people can be until money gets on the line. Even the people you know to be capable of kindness, empathy and conscientiousness can do things that will make you question your perception of people in General.
POS business dudes and dudettes have been trending in Nigeria. The same goes for Bankers. These two sets of people have successfully made it their mission to add fuel to the already burning fire which can be traced down to the scarcity of Paper money in Nigeria.
Bankers say there is no money in the bank when a common lad come to their door, but when high net-worth individuals knock, they walk out with millions of the same 'scarce' money.
This attitude is successfully leading to bank runs in the country. People have money in the bank, but they can't withdraw their hard-earned money. What do you expect from these folks? Even when they see where to withdraw, they end up having to pay ridiculously high withdrawal fees. We are talking 20%-ish kinda fee on withdrawal. Haha. Tell me this isn't a Ponzi scheme at work.
What I want to make known is that the use of the civility of people as a weapon to outrightly attack them is no way to act in a sane society. It's appalling, but that's sadly what we are dealing with in this crumbling part of the world.
I hope this new week graces Nigerians with an abundance of paper money.
It's funny how this scarcity of paper money has climbed so many ladders to become one of the major issues we are dealing with at the moment. So sad.

¿Qué esperaba yo de un país como el mío?
Sucesos inesperados comenzaron el viernes por la noche y pusieron en tela de juicio la tranquilidad de mi fin de semana. Es curioso cómo todavía vi a tanta gente en la iglesia hoy cantando himnos con caras sonrientes. Reafirma la antigua declaración de que "los nigerianos pueden pasar por el infierno y aun así actuar como si el mundo fuera su ostra". Somos especialistas en mantener nuestra mierda unida. Ja ja.
Si bien me dará un subidón de adrenalina criticar a nuestro gobierno y hacer caricaturas de sus políticas realmente extrañas y opresivas, tenga en cuenta que esta publicación no es una crítica al gobierno. No. Hoy no. No quiero empezar esta nueva semana con eso.
Este post es todo sobre los ciudadanos. ¡Maldición!
Todos nos quejamos de la política opresiva del gobierno, pero sería un error asumir que sabe lo astuta que puede ser la gente hasta que el dinero se pone en juego. Incluso las personas que sabes que son capaces de mostrar amabilidad, empatía y conciencia pueden hacer cosas que te harán cuestionar tu percepción de las personas en general.
Los tipos y tipos de negocios de POS han sido tendencia en Nigeria. Lo mismo ocurre con los banqueros. Estos dos conjuntos de personas han cumplido con éxito su misión de agregar combustible al fuego que ya arde y que se puede rastrear hasta la escasez de papel moneda en Nigeria.
Los banqueros dicen que no hay dinero en el banco cuando un muchacho común llama a su puerta, pero cuando los individuos de alto poder adquisitivo tocan, salen con millones del mismo dinero 'escaso'.
Esta actitud está provocando con éxito corridas bancarias en el país. Las personas tienen dinero en el banco, pero no pueden retirar el dinero que tanto les costó ganar. ¿Qué esperas de esta gente? Incluso cuando ven dónde retirar, terminan teniendo que pagar tarifas de retiro ridículamente altas. Estamos hablando de una tarifa de retiro del 20%. Ja ja. Dime que esto no es un esquema Ponzi en el trabajo.
Lo que quiero hacer saber es que el uso de la civilidad de las personas como arma para atacarlas descaradamente no es forma de actuar en una sociedad sana. Es espantoso, pero lamentablemente eso es a lo que nos enfrentamos en esta parte del mundo que se desmorona.
Espero que esta nueva semana honre a los nigerianos con una gran cantidad de papel moneda.
Es curioso cómo esta escasez de papel moneda ha subido tantas escaleras hasta convertirse en uno de los principales problemas con los que nos enfrentamos en este momento. Muy triste.
