Paid a visit kiri dam in Adamawa with my friend 🌝
The kiri dam is located at shellenge, Numan road which source of water is from Sherihi Jos and the name of the River is river Gongola.
The Kiri Dam was constructed in 1982 on the Gongola River, a major tributary of the Benue River. The dam was built primarily for irrigation purposes, aiming to support agricultural development in the north-south part of Adamawa
The dam has a height of about 15 meters (49 feet) and a length of approximately 1,200 meters (3,937 feet). It has a storage capacity of around 615 million cubic meters of water.which has two main gates.
The Kiri Dam has played a significant role in promoting agriculture, particularly rice and maize production, in Adamawa State and surrounding areas. It has also helped to regulate floodwaters, reduce soil erosion, and provide water for livestock and domestic use.
Also during March -June the gate are usually open to supply water to the Savannah sugar farm.
