¡Dinero!

Money! For some a necessary evil, for others it represents happiness, a part does not give it the value it represents in life and for another part of the human race, money is everything.

In the society in which we live, money represents a measure of the success that a person has in the world, however, whoever has it in abundance is not necessarily happy.

In the search for my financial freedom (I am not free yet, but I am closer than at the beginning) I have read many articles related to money; I have read lots of books on financial education and personal growth (in my opinion, they go hand in hand) leading me to make decisions to conquer the economic Everest that the vast majority pursue in life.

Being happy and financially solvent is the dream of 98% of the population since the remaining 2% is already financially solvent and a part of them works to forge their happiness, but this point is another matter. So I won't talk much about it.

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a first step" Lao-Tzu

Most people want things to happen at the speed of light; Possibly they think that the story of Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp could happen to them at any moment, and their first wish to the genie of the lamp would be: Make me a millionaire!, without seeing the reality that lies behind this story.

Do you want to be a millionaire? I don't think you'll find anyone who would say no, unless you're scared of money, however, in order to become obscenely rich, you need to know the formula used by those already rich. And... How can I know that formula if I don't have rich friends to teach me and explain it? You could ask me right now. Didn't you just think of it? Well, the answer is simple. Many of them have written their memoirs in books that you can find in bookstores or lying on the ground on a tablecloth on the sidewalk and at ridiculous prices.

The secret is that there are no secrets.

Many authors have methodically and systematically written the steps to follow, or rather, the universal rules or principles that have governed the obtaining, multiplication, and conservation of money in the world, regardless of their economic status, sex, or race when they started. "To him who believes, all things are possible," said Jesus and this is the attitude that every person should possess before embarking on the project of becoming a wealthy person; The second, are basic rules that, when constantly applied to the letter, will bring success as an unfailing result.

One of the books that helped me understand what are the principles or rules that have governed the economy in the world is and continues to be The Richest Man in Babylon, by [George S Clason](https://es.wikipedia.org /wiki/George_Samuel_Clason) who explains in a simple way through a story based on the ancient Babylonian civilization, how a very rich man explained to his students how he learned and applied those rules to his life to become the richest person in the Babylonian empire. If you read it, I know you will love this book.

The introduction was a bit long for me, but we will still talk about the first rule that every person must apply to have pockets full of money, and this is:

Decide that you want to own money

The first rule to apply is this: You have to commit that, no matter what happens, you are going to start saving a part of what you earn. The author writes it this way: “Pay yourself first” In simple words, this is nothing more than saving at least a tenth of what you earn.

When I have explained this to other people around me, they tell me: How will I save 10% of what I earn if 100% is not enough for me? And this is a very good question! When I started this project (I have made many mistakes) I only saved 3% of my income, following this slow and tortuous path, because I did not see my savings grow. That's when I decided that I would save 10%. As I did? When I received my salary, the first thing I did was set aside 10% and save it, and with the remaining 90%, I solved everything else. Let me tell you when I started doing this, I didn't lack more than when I kept 100%.

So, the first rule, and I think it's the most important, is: Save a part (10%) of all your income... without exception.

In a future installment, we will talk more about this topic.
