Harvesting of groundnuts

I really think it’s more easier to plant and harvest groundnuts more than other crops, I can even say that the planting is the hardest part of the process but the harvesting is very easy, it’s just done buy pulling out the groundnut from the ground. Some days ago I went to visit my aunty in the town and see ask me to help her peel her groundnut that she wants to groundnut it and extra oil from it, I don’t know the process but I know my mom usually do same some years ago when I was still together with her. But I don’t really know why this particular groundnut has a very hard shell. I was finding it so difficult to peel it. Planting and harvesting groundnuts (peanuts) requires careful planning and execution.

Planting Groundnuts:

  1. Climate: Groundnuts thrive in warm climates with temperatures between 65°F and 95°F (18°C and 35°C).
  2. Soil: Well-draining, sandy loam soil with pH 6.0-7.0.
  3. Seed Selection: Choose high-yielding, disease-resistant varieties.
  4. Planting Time: Typically in late spring to early summer, after last frost.
  5. Planting Depth: 1-2 inches (2.5-5 cm) deep, 3-4 inches (7.5-10 cm) apart.
  6. Row Spacing: 3 feet (90 cm) apart.
