His name is Robert Lewandowski.
No, he's not half-robot.
Anyone with the slightest interest in European football is likely to have come across the name.
Fondly referred to as 'Lewy' by players and fans of the round leather game, he's achieved the status of Demi-god.
Raving supporters of the polish striker wouldn't mind erecting a statue at the Allianz arena in his honour, I reckon.
An avid football fan myself, I've watched with awe his spectacular ascent to stardom.
In sporting parlance, if completeness was a person, it would be Lewy. His poise is unrivalled. His records, staggering.
As I scrolled through this morning, I came across a post on the page of one of the respected sports media agencies.
It rolled out some mind-blowing stats from some of the top performers in Europe's top 5 leagues this season.
Something caught my attention, and that's what inspired this post.
Robert Lewandowski has scored a total of 34 goals for his club this season, 6 more than his Karim Benzema, who sits in 2nd position.
That's not what struck me.
I checked the stats for 'Most Shots on Target'.
Guess who's up there?
Lewy!
He's got 18 more shots on target than the man in 2nd.
I continue digging, checking for most shots attempted in all of Europe.
Again, I find the name ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI staring at me.
Man hit a whopping 156 shots.
Do you get the point?
Just in case you missed it, here's it :
𝐓𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐬' 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐭, 𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚d 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫
That's a general principle with life.
There's a big possibility that you haven't hit your goals because you've not taken enough shots.
One...two...three....and you give up.
A true champion must summon the grit to persevere even when results aren't instant.
He took 156 shots.
78 we're on target.
34 eventually found their way into the back of the net.
It simply means that he misfired 78 times.
His shots were blocked 44 times.
But he just kept shooting.
Maybe that's all you need to do - keep shooting.
Keep sending those proposals.
Keep putting out those videos.
Keep attempting that design.
Like Thomas Edison, the famous inventor of the Lightbulb, only those who MAKE ENOUGH ATTEMPTS accomplish anything worthwhile.
