This Saturday was a hectic day. We planned to purchase major kitchenware items on this day. We went to Maharagama for several other works and same time we decided to drive extra miles to Petta to buy kitchenware. As usual, we made a long list of items and declared a budget of 50 000 LKR for the complete visit. As our new kitchen is full empty we had to purchase from the smallest item.
As I had already purchased almost all the containers already, we only had to buy the rest of the stuff like spoons, knives, cutting boards, pans, and other tools.
Our route from Mahragama to Pettah was placed through Pamunuwa. It was our first time seeing Pamunua, and we stopped by a roadside shop to purchase some cloth hangers. We didn't spend much time comparing prices with other shops and we directly purchased from the first shop we stopped by. It took 300LKR for a dozen of plastic no-trace hangers and 450 for ten saree hangers. We could have buy for a cheaper price if we check more, but we didn't too much time on this.
It was 12 noon when we reach Pettah. We are too new for Petta and at the beginning, we had the problem of finding a parking place. But we could find a place that provides paid roadside parking, which charges 80 LKR per hour.
Our destination was Dam Street, aka Wella Veediaya. It is the famous street for kitchenware as we finally found it after youtube research :). Actually, there were plenty of people, vehicles, and shops and to me, it took some time to adjust to the environment. Anyway, we visited many many shops to understand the price difference.
We purchased almost all the stuff on our list except the nonstick pans. We had trouble deciding which brand to buy because each shop had a different brand and different price.
There was everything that we need, but we spend lots of time picking the item with the ideal quality and price. I will share with you the shops we purchased items in my next article.
We spent like three hours there and around 3 pm we turned back to home. We had our lunch from Burger Hut Dehivala which we frequently visit.
As the very last thing we stopped by Pheonix Plastics Panadura to purchase the rest of the plastic items like dustbins. It was like 7.30 pm when we back home.
It is not easy to decide to buy items when the brands are new, and we do not know if they will last.
Going shopping excites me (my wife much more) but in my case, I go straight to find what I have in mind; I scan the area quickly for the best price and the best brand, but I don't look at anything else I haven't planned to buy.
In the end, when I have everything on the list, if I don't feel tired, I may notice something else.
He hee.. All men hsave the same attitudes. My Bf always tries to stick to the prepared list and he always goes to the shop and asks the owners about the next listed item on our list. For me, I am not used to that. First I want to have a walk around the shop and I want to adjust to the environment. Anyhow, we managed to buy everything we need for now.
It seems that men are configured the same, in terms of purchases. Hahaha I don't know anyone different
😅🤷♀️
Oh, we are same🤩. Before purchasing some stuffs especially when we buy with great amount we have to compare prices from different stores to check which one offers the least amount but of course we value the quality also.
As an extra step, I like to check some random online shops in other areas to know whether my visit is worth or not. Then I can find the best area to buy relevant items.
Hmm, market this is one place I don't like much going mostly with lady here. Mother's here will price at ridiculous price till their target is meet and after all set and done you will discovered that you have spent more than 5 hours in the Market and most of the time spend on negotiations
He heee... More time for negotiations and little time for buying. That's the nature😅
Yes o, and today been Market day I was at the market again
