He is a Software Developer at 16 years, thanks to his father and SKYHUB NIGERIA

One of the biggest things my parents did for me years ago was asking me what I wanted during the long vacation in my JSS1. My response was that I wanted to be enrolled in a computer training program at the then BUJAMBI, and I started working at KENCOY cyber cafe shortly after. And the story goes on.

The investment our parents make in our lives can help shape a bright future for us if we do not deviate from the path we are prepared for.

In this picture is a 16-year-old software developer named ‘Winner Uche’. I got in contact with him the very first day he attended the 3MTT program, and because of his maturity, I thought he was 18. He is a young boy who pays attention always during their software classes. When the March Edition of the 3MTT Talent Showcase came up, we discussed, and his innovative idea was selected amongst 50 laptop winners nationwide. At SKYHUB NIGERIA alone, we had 3 winners for this edition nationwide out of 50 winners. Story for another day.

On the far left is Mr. Uche, Winner’s dad. Immediately upon receiving a call that his prize package had arrived at the Makurdi post office, ‘Winner’ called his father, and all the way from JS Tarka University of Agriculture, Makurdi, where he’s (Winner Uche) currently a 100L Elect-Elect student, joined his father to pick up his prize, and both headed to SKYHUB NIGERIA.

His father, a gentleman, showered us with appreciation and gratitude for training his son to be a software developer. He commended our efforts and said his son says a lot about what we do at SKYHUB NIGERIA. I was indeed proud to hear that. The dad and I spoke at length, and we opted to take Mr. Uche’s second son, who is 14 years old, to join us during the next long vacation to learn any Digital or Tech skill of his choice.

You see, if parents will give support to their children and expose them to digital and tech skills at a tender age with caution like my parents did to me years ago and Mr. Uche currently doing to his children, the fear of AI taking people's jobs will only be the fear of those ignorant or those who lack digital and tech skills.

We [SKYHUB NIGERIA] are genuinely concerned about the Digital Transformation of individuals and businesses. How individuals can transition into digital and tech and businesses leveraging technology.

If I can do it, if ‘Winner’ can do it. You too can do it.
