As years turn to decades, and decades turn to centuries, coin designs from the past fall deeper and deeper into the annals of history and further amd further into distant memories.
Thanks to Royal Mints new "British Monarchs Collection", some of the greatest coinage portraits in British history will once again see the light of day. This innovative, five-year series will feature 21 monarchs in total. The Royal Mint plan on featuring iconic kings and queens from four royal houses: Tudor, Stuart, Hanoverian and Windsor. Some of the most important coins and iconic designs of British history habe been beautifully remade to collect and enjoy once more.
The arrival of the second coin in the " British Monarchs Collection" series sees us now entering the Jacobean period. With a coin dedicated to the first Stuart king of England, King James I, this stunning remake is a definite collectors coin that will add a certain "shazzam" to any collextion. James I is remembered in the pages of history as the English Scottish king. He was Scottish by birth and inherited the throne unifying England and Scotland, he is considered to be the first monarch to be called ‘King of Great Britain’.
Struck in 1oz of 999.9 fine gold, with a very limited mintage of just 100 coins worldwide, the price reflects its scarcity and potential for making big returns. Paying £1000($1400) over spot price is a big ask for most, but these are currently flying off the shelves as serious investors look to add to the first coin in the series, and continue their collection.
Its a little rich for my blood, but these coins will (in my opinion) hold their value in the short term before becoming incredibly collectable and valuable in the years to come.
