Hey blurters I'm shabii55 How are you all, hope you all are fine,
I just went to visit Chennai, I had heard the name of Marina Beach a lot, so I thought to have a look here, I really liked Marina Beach. This is really a very nice place, here you will get to see many new things.
Let's talk some more about Marina Beach..
Marina Beach is a beautiful beach in the Chennai metropolis of South India.
This beach is one of the longest beach in the world. It is counted among the largest beaches of India and second in the world.
Marina Beach is a natural beach in Chennai, Tamil Nadu along the Bay of Bengal, India.
This beach is 13 km. The sandy river stretches from Vice City in the south to Fort St. George in the north. Marina Beach is predominantly sandy in contrast to the sandy, rocky formations that characterize Mumbai's Juhu Beach. The average width of this beach is 300 m. (980 ft) and its western width is 437 m. (1,434) ft. Bathing and swimming have been banned in view of the dangers of Marina Beach. It is one of the most congested beaches in the country, attracting around 3,000 visitors a week and around 50,000 on holidays. It attracts 15,000 to 20,000 visitors especially in the summer months of February, November.
History
Before the 16th century, there were many incidents of land catchment as a result of rise in sea level. But there, as the sea retreated, many ridges and lagoons were formed. Marina Beach in Chennai was renovated by the then Governor Mountstat Elphinstone Grant Duff in the 1880s.
Marina beach is famous for its pristine beauty, cheerful atmosphere and sea ecosystem.
However, during the 20th century, the beach and water were polluted. As a result, the proliferation of plastic bangs, human waste and other pollution has rendered many parts of the beach unusable.
In recent years, a number of voluntary organizations have taken upon themselves the task of keeping the marina beach safe and maintaining the protection of the ecosystem.
These special efforts include the Neelankai Khad of the beach along with the olive turtle nests etc.
Marina Beach is one of the selected places in the city of Chennai, where the people of the city provide tiring mornings and evenings entertainment as well as happiness, peace, coolness during summers, holidays.
Walking on the beaches during sunrise and sunset gives a pleasant experience to the people. Here artefacts, handicrafts, sale of food items, children's playground remain the center of special attraction. Along with this kite flying, cricket games are usually played here.
There are ponies, horse rides, merry-go-rounds, mini giant wheels for fun. The Victory of the Workers and Mahatma Gandhi are the two prominent statues of the beach. Apart from this, statues associated with Tamil culture, scholar, and patriot Swami Sivananda, Sir Thomas Munro, 1st Baronet, Subramanya Bharathiyar, Robert Caldwell, Marudur Gopalan Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan etc. are included.
