Rubiah Island is located at the western tip of Indonesia in Sabang City, Aceh. Apart from having natural and marine beauty, Rubiah Island also has a hidden Islamic tourist destination which is located not far from the pier.

This white-painted permanent building, built during the colonial period in 1920, still stands strong. However, several roofs, windows and doors were badly damaged.

Previously, this was used as a quarantine place for Hajj pilgrims who had just returned from Mecca, said visitor, Ahsan Khairun, Tuesday 5 March 2024.

The first quarantine place for Hajj pilgrims in Indonesia has sharia tourism potential, but has not been approved by the government.

According to Sabang resident, Rizal Fahmi, the potential to use the Hajj Congregation Quarantine Building as a sharia tourism destination has various obstacles, one of which is overlapping permits from the ministry.

This is because there are three ministries that must provide permits, namely the Ministry of Forestry for land permits, the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) as the building owner, and the Ministry of Religion.

Fahmi said that currently there are only two buildings left for Hajj quarantine, even though previously they had complete facilities ranging from accommodation, health and various other facilities.

He hopes that the Hajj Quarantine can be opened soon. So the tourism potential in Sabang is not only the sea and 0 Kilometers, but also historical tourism.[]
