1st Anniversary of PowerClub

We created the PowerClub account in January 2021 and it has been a year now. Time to celebrate the first anniversary and show you guys why were started, what we did in the last year and what we are planning to do in the next year.

What is PowerClub?

PowerClub is probably the first Blurt native curation and contest account created by three witnesses from India who met here on Blurt.

Who runs PowerClub?

@Zahidsun, @Kamranrkploy, and @ImranSoudagar are among the top 20 witnesses and have been working hard to bring exciting contests to new users so that there is a high level of engagement on the Blurt platform.

Why did we start PowerClub?

When Blurt was first started the Blurt team felt the need to start officially sponsored curation accounts that were curating posts of different topics. Most of these curation accounts were based on region/country like BlurtAfrica, BlurtInda, or they were based on different topics like Blurtlife, BlurtGaming, etc.

At one time there was at least or more than 27 curation accounts with at least 500K Blurt Power or 1 million Blurt Power max.

In the beginning, it was all good. Users were creating content, curators were curating tens of posts and the reward pool was being distributed to a few hundred users each day.

And that was the idea behind creating these curation accounts to help some users earn a little bit of Blurt and provide enough supply.

As time went by these accounts were not being used in the way they were expected to be used. Users felt a sense of entitlement and demand bigger votes.

I remember one user would often complain when I would not vote their post or whenever I gave them a smaller vote.

Users were getting votes without many efforts and the result was that there were no efforts from users to curate, or comment, or create engaging content.

There were hardly any comments and just one or two community-created curation accounts. I often suggested that we should end these official curation accounts and when these were ended it opened doors. Users felt the need to start their own initiatives and now there are tens of different community-run/funded projects.

The Birth of PowerClub!

We registered the username PowerClub sometime in January 2021 and we bought around 72,000 Blurt and powered it up.

We slowly started a few initiatives to help newbies and we were successful. It took us some time to decide on what kind of contests we are going to run and once we had a few ideas we started to host several contests, giveaways every week.

We have given away hundreds of Blurt to newbies, helped newbies create accounts, giveaway hundreds of Blurt to several users to pay for transaction fees, and a lot more.

We would also like to apologize because sometimes the rewards have been received late.

What will we do in 2022?

Well, we will continue most of the contests and giveaways that we are running right now and we will also add a few new ideas to make them spicy and interesting.

The kind of response we have received in the last several weeks is really interesting and it makes us all excited to see what more we can do to encourage more quality content and more engagement on this beautiful platform.
