Popular Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie announced the birth of his son with his second wife Judith Austin.

Yul has been terribly criticised for his actions and he's been shaded, dragged and thrown into the mud.

Emphatically, this is as a result of the fact that he has been married to May Edochie (his first wife) for 17 years and a lot persons see his marriage and procreation with another woman as an emotional betrayal while others see it as a religious abomination.

For the latter reason, logically I don't see it holding much grounds as not everybody allows his or her life to be governed by religious doctrines.

Furthermore, even as a Christian, polygyny is not completely an abomination or a taboo as references can be made to biblical accounts of men after God's own heart who were polygamists.

And even modern Christianity still practices polygyny as seen in Kenya where catechists of the Roman Catholic Church marry more than one wife.

Personally, I hate polygamy, not for religious reasons but for personal reasons. Marriage is a thing that should be born out of love and commitment and even more.

How can you be in love and stay committed to more than one person at a time? There can be disunity or at least an imbalance in the show of affection among the family members.

For the former reason (emotional betrayal), I support it wholeheartedly.

As we can see, Yul's first wife made this comment, "may God punish you both" on the post that Yul announced the birth of his son with his second wife.

She felt betrayed and forsaken. Probably, she must have envisioned a lifetime with just her husband and kids and not another woman joining the matrimonial journey. And this had lasted for 16 years. She never saw this coming.

Yul had made a post of how good a wife she is, for staying with him even when he had no job and believe me, that's enough conviction for May to envision a forever with Yul.

Now she's awoken to the reality of sharing her matrimonial home. This is heartbreaking!

And I believe this is the major reason why fellow "netizens" took pity on her and hate on Yul, thereby lashing out all sort of critics and insults on Yul.

Moral Lesson: There's nothing specific one can do to keep a man or a woman. It's just a matter of being fortunte.
