CAMPUS LIFE
PS: All pictures used in this content were taken by me at Benue State University, Makurdi.
Once, a friend asked me to describe a scenario that entails the good, the bad and the ugly. The best I could come up with was "campus life".
Indeed campus life reveals to us all kinds of personalities. You keep bumping into different kinds of persons, ranging from those who are zealous about their educational status, those who are driven by peer influence, to those who are carefree about life and everything and just want to stay on campus and catch even the least fun.
As one who has been on campus as a student over the years, I can specifically tell out of experience that the campus life is quite mesmerizing with series of dramatic moments and events.
During the working days ( Mondays to Fridays), the mornings always present busy moments. Students living in the hostels and those living off campus rushing into classes to receive lectures. Lecturers driving in to take these lectures. One could easily get frenzied with the up and down running of activities that flow on the campus.
Students in their first year always in a haste to catch seats in the lecture halls. They won't miss a lecture for no reason. Those in their penultimate and final year always walking majestically to classes. They're the "legends" of the school.
The evenings come with a different aura on the campus as students embark on extracurricular activities. The athletes turn up to various fields and courts to get exercised. The very christened ones turn lecture halls into fellowship and prayer centres. The over zealous educationists gather for group studies. And of course the ones who are less busy in school roam around carelessly looking for gist partners to pass time.
The nights on campus are the most interesting sessions. The darkness gives students much confidence to display their true worth. Boys and girls getting all clutched up in the parks, prayer warriors returning from delivering the demons and diabolic forces into the hands of the Lord, adulterous men driving in to pick young girls who chase the highlife, boys going against the school rules to hide and smoke behind and even in front of hostels, "gist gurus" gathered in groups telling escapades of different events and not to forget the students who move in for night classes to see through their studies or at least throw a gaze at a crush.
The weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) are less busy as there's less academic works. Most students carry out laundry and dry-cleaning during the weekends. Some students leave the campus to spend time with their families at home.
The thrills, fascinations, drama, euphoria and hardships on campus makes the campus life interesting. We all enjoy the campus life but in different ways.
