Attracting New Blurters

in instablurt •  3 years ago

As some of you may know I've had my share of problems on the blockchain, some might say say I've been hogging problems too. I don't know why these things always happen to me, maybe I'm a trouble magnet.

The other day I wanted to make a new account for someone I know would be great on Blurt. He has built his own rss feed of my blurt blog so he didn't have to sign up but also complained that he couldn't comment. So I thought why not make him a profile on here. How hard could it be? After all I did it myself.

I had some advise to open his account from my own account, as in staying logged in and just creating another account.
So that's what I did.....
Then it all went tits up.
I know I rush things, I've always been a rusher so I obviously skipped the small print about saving a password BEFORE creating the account.
For some reason after I created the account I saw a form asking me to 'change the password' and not thinking I clicked it, thinking it was for the new account but it wasn't.

Long story short I had not saved the password (or any keys) and had managed to change my own keys/password in the process too. Massive panic ensued when I couldn't log into my own wallet then realised what I'd done.

I've created an account, gifted it 200 blurt and no-one can ever get into it and use that money OR that name. It's just gonna sit there for ever. What if one day Blurt is worth similar to bitcoin? That will be a huge wad just sitting there behind an invisible wall. Can anyone get to it? Can the account be deleted and I be refunded? Who could do that job? Anyone?

The moral of this story is don't build new accounts while you're logged in, log OUT and build a new account. I found I could gift the new account anyway through this process. DEFINITELY CLICK THE BUTTON TO SAVE UR PASSWORD which it will wrap up nicely in ur wordfile and u can save it somewhere on ur computer. Job done.

Now i do think this page needs a little more information for newbies and the writing I highlighted in red needs to be in bright neon lights or at least make the button to create account unworkable UNTIL the password save button has been pressed.
No-one seems to know HOW I changed my own account passord in this process, it's a mystery and will put it down to my own personal gremlins.

As you can see I managed to be successful this time round.

So we will have a new member (my first blurt-baby). I hope he will like it here and maybe get more subscribers to his fakeology blog too.
I await his 1st post with baited breath..............
Welcome @fake11

Hope this lesson helps someone else. I hope the program developers can maybe make things a little easier for potential newbies so we can get this place pumping.

Having to refollow everyone is a chore to me, i may sound lazy but if someone could make an option for me to refollow the 1600 people i am following on hive, i would like to follow them on blurt too, thats a lot of transactions that could be condensed into 1

Haha yeah although it’s kind of nice to start over too

True that and finding someone on here is impossible, the search thing just goes thru google!! Only way to find people is to know their blurt name or just wait until you bump into them. Not good.

Google is not good, not good at all.

I use presearch. You can click on most of the major search providers from the results page to see what google or duck duck go say if you dont like the results on presearch. You also get rewarded PRE for each search.

20.000 doge coin ,... made the same mistake , made a wallet , didn't save the generated key , was about 4 years ago ,.. still hurt's some times . ;-)

Oh nooo well yes we live and learn, most people only seem to learn from personal experience but we can try to warn.

This happened tomme with like a few thousand blurt I lost on an exchange 🥲 I just accept the loss rly you can earn 200 In one post, this one Infact so moneys back.

Yes the 200 was a gift to someone else so it's a bit like it getting lost in the post but at least if it got stolen someone would be benefitting, this way no-one does.
