One Vote
I am registered to vote in Korea although my face doesn't look like the average Korean person I have lived here over twenty years and I have some say in the way that things are done. One vote doesn't really change much, but it was a very close election as it was a close election with the Presidential election. Maybe my vote does count for something.
The Korean Zombies
It turns out that a lot of new people were elected into office. The liberal party was replaced by a conservative party.
The president made a statement Local election results are a call from people to better take care of economy. I'm not sure if that will happen, but I this may be an opportunity for the conservative party to show that they can do something without screwing it up.
After the election I made sure to stop at the convenience store to get a drink. I just noticed that the Zombie on the can of the "Korean Zombie" soft drink looks a lot like the newly elected mayor.
This is actually the energy drink of the Korean UFC fighter 정잔성. They have a zero calorie version but they don't ahve a no caffeine version. This zombie is pumped. I'd love this guy to come to Hive.
Anyway the Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon looks more like the Zombie on the can than the actual Korean Zombie Jung Jan Seong.
Glad to Vote
I'm just glad that foreigners get represented in the vote. There are a minority of foreigners who lived in Korea long enough to have the right to vote. When I pass by campaigners sometimes they smile but mostly they ignore me because I look like a foreigner. What they don't realize is that I have just as much a right to vote as anyone else. If I wanted to I could also influence others in my vote, but I'm not ready to go political.
I just want to let you know that I chose between two Zombies. It was a difficult decision, but I had the right to make that decision. The local elections are filled with names to vote.
First three papers are given for the Seoul mayor, school board superintendent and the local alderman office. After that another four papers are given with a whole lists of names. I recognized only one. What I didn't recognize was that the fourth paper in the second round of voting was stuck to the third paper so I ended up leaving that paper blank. There were more offices up for election than I could count.
The Cranberries - Zombie
The Cranberries wrote this song in 1994. The lyrics are just as pertinent now as they were then.
In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What's in your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
Purple Kiss - Zombie
These are the cutest zombies I have every seen. To them it is a game of hide and seek and they promise they will catch you. I'm pretty sure they will if you give them the chance.
So, you are an american that lives in Korea for 20 years now?
That's right @drlobes^^
Apparently you can be a naturalized citizen in 5 years and need to speak some of the language. I suppose there would be a test they'd administer once this time limit is met for an individual to quality.
Let's hope these new zombies bring something new and not waste too much time eating brains and stumbling about :)
I'm not really interested in being naturalized here. It brings out complicated legal issues. Maybe some of these zombies can work on that. LOL
