A lot of people have defined success, not excluding the dictionary and I'll still support the thought that "Success has its own definition and is different from how the other may see it". One may be successful but another will see the person as being successful and this is because they both have different meanings to what success is.
So to me, I'll say Success is a journey of having a peace of mind from the achievements made.
One doesn't have to make millions or have so many houses for one to be called successful but it is also a success definition to some.
What does success look like?
Success is happiness, satisfaction, fulfillment, peace of mind and a quest for growth. Success is a journey, you just keep going because success becomes a failure when you decide to stop or settle for what you had achieved in the past. Growing and learning more is a way to show success.
I saw a movie some time ago where a guy became successful after so many humiliation from friends in school but a friend believed in him. When the guy was asked how he became successful, he said something.
I am not successful, success is a journey that never ends and I'm just on my way to success. Because if I think I am successful now, I may stop moving and that would be mean no growth.
His response changed my thoughts on what success had always mean to me. Now, celebrating my little wins are what I see as my journey to success.
How Can I Get To Success?
Like I said, success is a journey so the question may want to be "How do I stay on my journey to success?" what do you think?
So if you're asking how to stay on your journey to success, I'll suggest five keys to staying on track. Success journeys aren't always easy but with these keys, I've learnt that success journey can only get easier as we move on.
Determination
We see a person who runs a race on the field looking so determined to win the race. One major cause of such person not winning the race at the end is "Lack of determination". The road to success is full of distractions like "You can't do it" or "There's no way for you grow more than this" or "This is your limit". The road is full of people who would discourage you and even make it seem like you're walking on the wrong path.
Staying determined is not listening to whatever people say but focusing on the bright light shining from your success at the end of the journey. Staying determined is not settling for what you've achieved already.
Skill
Having a skill on your success journey can't be overlooked. The world has evolved to a world full of skills, one without a skill is almost useless in this present world. You must find out what you're good at, if none... It's important to learn a skill.
I even suggest to those with skills to learn new ones. I plan to learn more as I journey on to my success. Learning a skill gets one ahead in so many ways one may not think of.
I've seen and heard of people who become happy, satisfied, fulfilled because they had a great skill and made very good use of them... All that will lead in the right direction to success.
Passion
Finding motivation to stay on track could make my success journey a difficult so I learn to be passionate about my journey by doing what I love most. If you want to be successful, do what you love and learn to appreciate it. You will see yourself moving even without motivation.
We know how to be passionate about something... We feel a fire burning in us for something, that we must do them to feel at ease. Like for some, they sing to feel better while some would read a book to keep sane. Just do what you love while you're at it.
Discipline
This can go alongside your determination. When you're determined, discipline comes in. You tend to remind yourself of your success goals and stay on track and that is showing your determination to win that race.
Discipline yourself to overcome whatever is acting as an obstacle to your journey. Be disciplined enough not to walk on people through your journey but to work with people on your journey.
Luck
I decided to keep this for last because some still argue that luck isn't part of success but really, luck happens to a lot of people and they become fulfilled through that.
So while on your journey, you must prepare for whatever opportunities may come your way. Some people don't have luck because they aren't prepared to grab those chances. Can one who has never registered for an international passport get the chance to fly out his country when a free trip fee comes in? The person may lose that opportunity.
Set yourself in a position where you would take chances to win in your success journey.
