I Missed My Flight Going to Cebu City

It was my first time missing a flight. The boarding time was 3:25 PM, so I checked in the day before the flight to avoid the crowd. Since I am from Biclatan, General Trias, Cavite, I prepared at 11:00 PM and started traveling going to the airport before 1:00 PM. It didn't take a minute for the bus to arrive. I slept in the whole travel. I was dead tired and had not more than 4 hours of sleep.

The bus was not the usual bus that runs fast. At that time, it ran too slow that it took me 2 hours to arrive at PITX. Then I didn't expect that the bus from PITX to the airport has a longer route. It was my fault for not taking either taxi or motorcycle there. When I realized that I am going to Baclaran first, I went out of the bus and ran to the first motorcycle I saw. Unfortunately, the queue at the entrance was long. I was freaking out already. I called Antoni but he was in a meeting. So I messaged Mark, my team lead to check a cheaper flight on that day.

When I passed all the security, I ran with 7 kilos on my back towards the boarding gate. The staff saw me and shouted, "Faster, Ma'am. Faster." I immediately showed the pdf copy of my boarding pass and my ID, then the lady asked why am I late. The other staff, in charge of the computer, was freaking out and told her colleague to not question me anymore and just scan my boarding pass. When she scanned it, the system had already been updated. I was panting and then got teary-eyed.

I could've started preparing in the morning and then worked in the airport while waiting for the boarding time. Instead, I worked, prepared, and my thrifty side emerged. I was kinda bothered to ride either taxi or motorcycle since it will cost either 300 PHP to 400 PHP. Even if I worked in the morning, I will still be able to arrive before the boarding time if I ride a taxi/motorcycle instead.

So I booked another flight, no longer in Cebu Pacific. I asked Mark to book me a ticket on Air Asia since they have cheaper rates. And guess what, I spent 4,000 PHP for another ticket going to Cebu City. Overall, I spent 10,000 PHP for three tickets. I AM MAD AT MYSELF. And I still haven't booked yet a ticket from Manila to Cagayan de Oro City (July 13 to July 28) because I am waiting for my salary. If only I can stay, I would because I am broke already. But I can't since I am one of the bridesmaids.

Here I am, safe and sound in Cebu City - and also broke. I am contemplating if I should message my best friend to meet me. She will surely ask me to eat and go somewhere.

Lesson learned: have a sense of urgency.
