Discipline must be administered in love. Punishment is simply inflicting pain but discipline is about correction and discipleship.
Children are provoked by:
- Continual criticisms
- Overly strict parenting - our children can be empowered when they know that we trust them.
- Over expectation
- Continual neglect - it’s not enough to just tell them you love them, show them.
Discipline must be balanced with the positive discipline of the Lord.
The goal of parenting is to lead them to the saving grace of Christ.
