Dhikr Tahlil, a Local Wisdom

Hello friends, how are you in this new year, happy new year 2025. Hopefully the new year will bring us all better than previous years.

Time continues to roll by and no one can stop it. As time goes by, I want to share about a tradition that has survived and is still maintained in the community where I live, namely the Dhikr Tahlil tradition.

Dhikr Tahlil is a tradition of our people that has survived and been maintained to this day, even though time continues to roll by. Dhikr Tahlil has become one of the local wisdom of the community. This tradition has existed since ancient times and continues to be passed down from generation to generation. For the people of Java Island in particular, especially Muslims, they definitely know this tradition.

A number of people gather (called congregations) in mosques, majlis, or in people's homes dressed in Muslim clothing, led by a religious figure, chanting sentences praising the greatness of Allah, the Almighty God, while praying for safety and blessings. All congregants believe that Dhikr Tahlil brings many blessings and strengthens the sense of togetherness so that a sense of family is formed in closeness.
