Thursday Walk Activity: " Exploring the Rice Field In Manticao, Misamis Oriental"

Today is Thursday and it is good and perfect to do a simple traveling here in our Town. I decided to went back in Manticao rice field. This field help the town economy by selling rice grains to other places. It helps also to all residents in Manticao to have their food in their dining table. It was perfect for me to do traveling because the we experienced a cloudy and light rain situations, so it is expected that the place is cool and there is no heat of the sun lights up the place. This area is also called, the Rice bowl of Manticao it means that some of the rice grains harvested will be sell to our market place. Some of it are also transported to other far away places like Naawan and Cagayan De Oro city. Thia month is the planting season, so the rice farmers are do their jobs so that they can started to plant more rice in the field.

Some of the rice paddies are not yet ready for planting rice plants and it needs plowing and using those mechanical farming tools. It helps them doing their job easily and done fast. First they removed those wild grass inside of the paddies and they used tractors to cultivate the area first. It must be very muddy before they will put those dried rice grains and wait to grow for 15 days. The grains should not be milled if it is planting use.

The rice halks was burned and some of it are put in the pit to make it an organic fertilizer. There are also people who wants to buy Rice stalks and make it as a chicken coup. For those garlic farmer, they also used this as a planting materials so that the garlic will grows very fast.

This is what we called Rice treaser, this will be used to separate the rice grain and rice stalks. This kind of thing helps a lot to all rice farmer specially when we do rice harvesting. It can make their job very easily and done very fast. This can be pulled by An animal just like carabao so that it can transfer to one place to another because it contains a wheel so it can easily pulled by a Carabao.

The Government built this structure as their meeting areas. All rice farmers will went here everytime when there's a meeting about farming topics. Since the rice farmer here are in great numbered, they also conducted an association and introduced their group to the Government so that they can receive helps and benefits from the Local Government of Manticao.

Near at this field is these two cell site towers built near at the National road. It helps us to have strength and good phone signals. It reaches to the far places particularly in those mountainous places in Manticao.

This is a part of rice paddies were the rice seeds planted until it reaches 15 days. When it reach that time, they will removed carefully from the paddy and started to plant to other paddies in the place. This is not really an easy job because of heat and we can't seat while planting. They put some slightly distance so that they can easily removed those young rice plants and cannot be stepped in.

There are lots of birds can be seen here in the place and one of this is the bird called Bagwak and crane. This birds are having their good time searching for shells buried in the mud. This kind of birds is not really harmful to plants and it helps to vanished or removed those harmful shells just like Cohol.

I was having a lot of fun time exploring the place together with my friend. I am very thankful to him for accompanying me in this field. He also love taking pictures and he also having a lot of enjoyable time here in Rice field of Manticao.
