Good night from Bangladesh.
Happy new year all of you friends.
Our company's annual meeting is held in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh (head office).
So I have to travel to Dhaka at different times of the year.
As soon as I get time to go to Dhaka, I also visit different places of interest in Dhaka.
Jatiya Sangsad is one of those places of interest.
It is located in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area of Dhaka. Renowned American architect Louis I. Kahn was its original architect.
And Mazharul Islam is the assistant architect.
Construction of the parliament building began in 1961 and was completed in 1982.
According to Wikipedia,
"Jatiya Sangsad is the highest legislature of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The one-chamber legislature has 350 members; Of these, 300 MPs are elected by direct popular vote and the remaining 50 seats are reserved for women. The women members of the reserved seats are elected by a vote of 300 elected members of Parliament (by indirect election). The term of Parliament is five years.
It is one of the most beautiful legislative buildings in the world. The area of this building is 215 acres. In addition to the main building, there is an open green area, a beautiful reservoir and the office of the Member of Parliament.
There is no column anywhere in the parliament building. It is as if a huge concrete sculpture has been made.
Which has given the national building a special uniqueness from other modern buildings in Bangladesh."
Friends, when you visit Dhaka, don't forget to visit this National Parliament.
