Today is our Victory Day. Public holidays.
So I am starting this post of mine to wish everyone a happy Victory Day.
December 16th is a special day in Bangladesh as Victory Day, which is celebrated all over the country.
In a circular issued on 22 January 1972, this day was declared as National Day in Bangladesh and it was mentioned to be celebrated.
After 9 months of bloody war, on 16th December 1971 at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka, the Pakistani forces formally surrendered to the Bengali nation.
And from that day onwards a new independent and sovereign state called Bangladesh emerged in the history of the world.
Since then, the Bengali nation has been observing the 16th of December every year.
In the whirl of time, 50 years of our independence have come to an end.
Subarna Jayanti is being celebrated in different districts of our country courtesy of its 50th anniversary.
Flowers were laid at the Shaheed Minar from 8 am today to pay homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country.
Then a prayer mahfil is organized for the forgiveness of their departed souls.
In the afternoon, a discussion was held at a special place in the city on how the country gained independence.
As a Bengali nation, we are very happy and proud today.
On the occasion of Victory Day, alleys of the city and many auditoriums are illuminated with different types of lights.
Even many shops have been illuminated.
