PRESTIGE

The word "PRESTIGE" may be a common word, but its meaning is usually not well understood. In a simple way, prestige may be defined as a form of respect which someone earns for one reason or the other. Usually respect can be used interchangeably or synonymously used with prestige, but it is more to be considered as self-respect.
Unlike power, prestige is gotten through achievements, discipline and self-respect.

Someone who has a best of something will likely carry himself with prestige because of such achievement.

For instance, a best-graduating student in the university will be very comfortable to announce or publicise his result, because he made a best out of it. Also, when the news goes round the school and his fellow students get to know of it, they will begin to respect him or her and this special form of respect is what we refer to as prestige.

Prestige can be achieved in various spheres of life. One can be prestigious academically, mentally, spiritually, and even in business. Successful business men like Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and even Aliko Dangote are respected because they are established in their career. Of course, to be successful in business, one has to be a quick thinker. Also, spiritual persons like pastors are respected because they are seen to be close to God. You will agree with me that being close to God is also a very great achievement.

    In one form or the other, prestigious  people are of good reputation. For instance, a criminal can never be respected because his or her reputation is a mess.

People gain prestige due to many reasons. Some may sound simple, but actually goes a long way in promoting prestige. The way a person thinks, talks, dresses, walks, eats, socializes, and even his general behavior can make him gain or loose respect.

    A natural  person is respected because of the way he thinks. In the same sense, a decent person is respected because of the way he talks, dresses, walks, eats and the way he behaves generally. As a matter of a verified fact, prestigious people are comfortable people.
