Among other things, I am a farmer.
An ordinary farmer 🧑🌾 manipulates the soil with hope, most times without any idea of its use capabilities or native nutrient threshold.
His focuse will be to do all that is in his power to ensure he reaps tangible results.
He will clear, plough, prepares the soil, sows his seeds, tends, nuture, removes weeds and waits in hope for favourable harvest. No assurances, no proofs, no promises.
His only confidence is that, he has done his part, committed the energy and resources and had observed necessary principles.
Things like sowing the right type of viable seeds must be kept in mind.
If the harvest turns out well, he rejoices, celebrates. If the harvest goes negative, he regrets his losses and waits for the next planting season.
Happy New Year!
That's a line almost all of us have used recently.
So, I'll tell you right now too. Happy new year to you.
What does this hold for us? Have we made all the wishes and are still fasting? That's a great way to start.
But here is the thing, the year (parcel of land) does not promise us anything other than a few fortunate gestures that are widely subject to chance (wild vegetables, fruits and game).
To increase the prospects of the year, we have to plan, strategize, explore and exploit it (plough, sow and manage).
Sadly, there are yet no meters to measure the impending baggage the year is bringing or the probability of success (how fertile the land is).
Still, we need to do our bidding with sincerity and intentionality and then hope that the odds turn in our favour.
Apparently, executing our plans and obligations conscientiously naturally increase our chances and tilt the odds favourably.
When we finally get the outcome, positive or negative, we proceed to gleaning necessary lessons for the next phase (another planting season).
So, lets plunge into the year confidently or jittering even though we have no assurances but just trusting that efforts will most naturally give birth to results.
Let's go forth sowing lively seeds into the year and in all likelihood, the year will produce wonderful harvest for us all. 🥔🌽🍅
