Heading into Autumn, I'm getting excited about 2024's growing season! It will be a long and bitter winter up here in Northern BC Canada, but the memory of this year's garden, and the dream of even better results next year, will hold off the cabin fever! I'm already doing a few things with next Spring in mind.
The sunflowers are in full bloom, signaling the end of Summer:
A lot of symmetry and patterns in this plant. The seeds are arranged in a Fibonacci sequence, and the bracts in a perfect spiral:
Here's an update on the calla lily, which has turned a pretty light peach colour:
The latest daily update photos:
If you look closely at the last image, along the right side of the closest garden, you'll notice I've expanded outward slightly. I'm going to do the same with all the edges. They've grown in, mostly with weeds, since I dug the garden up in April.
This is going to make things a lot easier in the Spring, when I'll just have to turn the soil over once with a shovel, rake it flat, and sow my seed. I'll be 6 weeks ahead of where I was this year!
I've got 6 varieties of tomato growing this year. The yield isn't going to be great, with my slow start and the wonky weather, but they're REALLY tasty. I'm already eating the Sweet 100s that I showed in my last post.
I'm looking forward to showing you the tomatoes as they finish growing and ripening! It will be satisfying to get the garden upgraded and ready to sleep until Spring.

Not many people would understand that the sun flowers are arranged in a Fibonacci sequence, LOL! Or, come to think of it, even what that is...but it makes a great antenna design.
The tomatoes look impressive too. Nice to see good eats on the garden....
Good to see a nice garden; I hope you got a lot of food from it! I noticed you had some help in the picture about in the middle. It's good to start them early, then the remember and love it the rest of their lives!
Slightly expanding now is wise. Glad you fought back the encroaching weeds on the sides! We have a Lady locally who adds another 10 foot each year, so now she has her entire fence-line planted.
I know you will pass the winter enjoying the planning for your 2024 garden!
Be blessed my friend....
Me too!! Wow, those are some nice sunflowers. We have the kind of sunflowers this year that I'm usually envious of: big tall ones, and a huge garden full of them. Too bad we didn't get any of the red ones (yet).
It is something to look forward also how your garden will look like in version 2.0.👍😀 For sure that will be great.♥️
How I would have liked to see a macro photograph of the sunflower. Some time ago I took some of some gazanias that I had in my garden; Regarding the tomato, I think there are two varieties I know of, haha, and I buy them in the market because I still don't know how to grow tomatoes. Maybe it was lack of interest or time.
I also have white calla lilies; Maybe this time I will buy yellow and another dark color that I saw in the flower's nursery.
Hi Ray! I will take a macro close-up photo of my best sunflower, the next time I am in my garden.
Well, if you ever do have time to try growing a few tomato plants, let me know! I can help you out. And if you need some seeds, I can send you some in the mail, they go in an envelope no problem.
Fantastic! That wouldn't be a bad idea, brother.
Thank you very much for all your unconditional support.
A hug.
Those tomatoes lookin' awesomely yummy!!! 🍅🤤

Thank you bro!
I'm growing a few "Old German" heirloom tomato plants this year, and they'll be ripe in a couple weeks, it should be fun.
Look forward to seeing those buddy! 🍅
Hmm, beautiful garden. I wish my plan work out next year too. To start growing my vegetables and rearing of animals too.
