Hello to all the community, today I will talk to you about the malocclusions that are defined as the abnormal alignment of the teeth, the teeth must be aligned in the alveolar ridge, it appears during childhood, due to several causes and it manifests itself during childhood.
Entre las maloclusiones tenemos el apiñamiento, que es una de las que causa de más malestar en el paciente, por afectar la estética es más propenso a la caries y a la acumulación de placa.
Among the malocclusions we have crowding, which is one of the causes of more discomfort in the patient, because it affects the aesthetics is more likely to caries and plaque buildup.
Puede clasificarse en leve, moderada y severa dependiendo de la severidad del apiñamiento y puede tener varias causas como congénita, hereditaria, traumatismos, hábitos o desnutrición.
It can be classified as mild, moderate, and severe depending on the severity of the crowding and can have various causes such as congenital, hereditary, trauma, habits, or malnutrition.
ReferenciaEl apiñamiento provoca un amontonamiento dental por falta de espacio y éstos pierden su alineación ideal pueden erucionar: girados, montados sobre otro, torcidos no llevan una alineación armónica.
Crowding leads to dental crowding due to lack of space, and teeth lose their ideal alignment and can erode: turned, mounted on top of each other, crooked, they are not harmoniously aligned.
La pérdida prematura de dientes puede causar apiñamiento ya que el espacio faltante es ocupado por los dientes vecinos y al erupcionar el permanente el espacio esta cerrado y toma una posición diferente a la normal.
Premature tooth loss can cause crowding because the missing space is occupied by neighboring teeth and when the perm erupts the space is closed and takes on a different position than normal.
ReferenciaEl factor hereditario hay que evaluarlo ya que pueden existir personas con apiñamiento en la familia, o heredar factores que la predisponen como
- maxilar pequeño con dientes normal
- maxilar normal con dientes grandes
- una combinación de ambas.
The hereditary factor has to be evaluated since there may be people in the family who are huddled together, or inherit factors that predispose them to it, such as
- small jaw with normal teeth
- normal jaw with large teeth
- a combination of both.
Los hábitos adquiridos durante la niñez, ocasiona apiñamiento como chupar dedo o lengua, respirador bucal entre otros.
Habits acquired during childhood, cause crowding such as thumb or tongue sucking, mouth breathing among others.
Erupción de los terceros molares, causa en algunos pacientes apiñamiento de los dientes anteroinferiores.
Eruption of the third molars, causing in some patients crowding of the anteroinferior teeth.
La no utilización de retenedores después de una ortodoncia produce apiñamiento, ya que el diente tiene lo que llamamos memoria de posición, y siempre tratará de volver a donde estaba.
Not using retainers after orthodontics produces crowding, since the tooth has what we call position memory, and will always try to return to where it was.
ReferenciaLos tratamientos que le.presentamos al paciente para corregir esta maloclusión temenos:
- Ortopedia: el apiñamiento es en la niñez o preadolescencia, ayuda al armonizar el desarrollo cráneo-encefálico.
- Ortodoncia
- Estética: se puede armonizar un apiñamiento leve con carillas y coronas dentales.
The treatments we present to the patient to correct this malocclusion are the following:
- Orthopedics: Crowding is in childhood or pre-adolescence, it helps by harmonizing the cranio-encephalic development.
- Orthodontics
- Aesthetics: a slight crowding can be harmonized with dental veneers and crowns.
Mi recomendación, si el niño presenta apiñamiento, visitar al odontólogo para planificar el mejor tratamiento, para corregir y alinear los dientes. Esto lo ayudará en su desarrollo tanto fisiológico como psicológico.
My recommendation, if the child is crowded, to visit the dentist to plan the best treatment, to correct and align the teeth. This will help him in his development both physiologically and psychologically.
