This is for the main purpose of enlightening those who may not know about plagiarism and also for those who think it isn't wrong since they've not been shunned about it before. It is for the newbies and the oldbies, no one is above this because plagiarism is more than what you may know it to be. I will be sharing some things about plagiarism that you must not forget as you continue on your blogging journey.
To start with, Plagiarism is a wrong act of copying, stealing or using another's work without giving proper credits or citing sources.
In simpler words, Plagiarism is when you use an information that isn't yours to create your own work without making it clear that you used someone's work for it.

Plagiarism is a crime, from an article I read some time back... One could be sentenced for plagiarizing or be asked to pay a fine... That is how important it is not to plagiarize another's work.
What Can Be Plagiarized? Or Is It Just Someone's Texts? You asked?
Anything that isn't yours and you used them to get rewards, payments, or even accolades... You've plagiarized such a thing. Things that can be plagiarized are: Text, images, music, data, art and so many others.
Imagine you created a beautiful image and before you could use it for its purpose, you saw another person use it for making money in another site... A thief, you may call the person at first. Yes, the person plagiarized your work and deserves to be punished at least with a warning.
Same goes for any other kind of work you created, so using someone else's work without permission or citing sources isn't ideal as you won't like it if it were done to your own work.
What Are The Types Of Plagiarism? I Don't Know Them.... Someone asked?
With the types of plagiarism, you'd be shocked to know that you may had plagiarized a lot before reading this post but put of ignorance. Plagiarism types are four in number from what I know and I'll be sharing them so we could know and avoid them.
The Global Plagiarism
I will say this one is a deliberate and wicked act of plagiarism... Copying an entire text from another's work and using it without taking permission or citing sources... Imagine seeing your exact work on another's work, That's global plagiarism.
The Mosiac Plagiarism
Some people who are very much aware of the punishment or fine they may have to pay decide to do something else to avoid such punishment... Copying from different sources into one text... Different owners will see a part of their work in another's work, that's Mosiac plagiarism.
The Incremental Plagiarism
This type of plagiarism is a bit less punishable but still questionable because it is still plagiarism... Using a small amount of another's work in your own original work without citing sources... So when a little part of work is used and you're not given the proper credit, that's incremental plagiarism.
Self - Plagiarism
I will say this is so improper and it means the offender doesn't want to grow... Taking and using from your past work to make a new work again... When one goes back to a past work and edit to create a new work for the purpose of making more money with it, that's self - plagiarism.
You could see now that there are a lot of ways one can fall victim of this crime so it's best and wise to be more careful in using another's work. Some very common ways of plagiarizing are:
- Paraphrasing too closely to the source's work
- Forgetting to quote your source
- Mentioning an idea from elsewhere without citing it
- Not giving a complete reference list
So How Do I Avoid Plagiarizing? I Don't Want To Fall Victim Of It... You asked?
With the fact that you could plagiarized even without going into someone's work to copy it from there, it has been made easy for anyone to go through his/her work on a plagiarism checker before publishing (This is mainly for text plagiarism by bloggers).
Plagiarism Detector.net
Scibbr.com Plagiarism Checker
Here are a few plagiarism checkers I know of and have been very accurate for me, you should save them somewhere and make use of them whenever before publishing.
Another way to fight plagiarism here is keep enlightening others about the knowledge of plagiarism and what it would cost to plagiarize. Be a guide to others by setting good examples and help the watchers reduce their workload by avoiding plagiarism as much as you can.
I hope it has been explained better and plagiarism will be reduced a bit on this platform, be sure to share your own idea about plagiarism in the comment section and let's keep learning.
This is my entry for the End Plagiarism Contest organized by @endplagiarism and I will like to invite @katerinaramm and @williams-owb to join in the contest.
