We all know this popular quote which says "We Never Know What We Have Untill It's Gone", and what this implies is that most people do not really value what they have at-hand, as they are busy looking for greater and bigger fortunes.
The fact of this matter is that We Know What We Have, But We Never Taught We Would Ever Lose It.
So this is a fiction of how Mr Samuel and His wife lost all they had because of greed and selfish desires.
Mr Samuel and his wife Clara lived in a big community, where they were living so happily and contented, even though they had no kids of their own. Mr Samuel was very popular due to his great fishing skills, he has won the award for the best fisherman of the year in four(4) different years in that community.
Apart from the fact that he was very hard-working and skillful, everyone knew that he loved his wife so much. Despite the fact that she hadn't given him a child, he still didn't marry a second wife, and he showed her care more than any other man in that community. Mrs Clara usually instructs her husband to catch the biggest fish🐟 for her, which she would then prepare and enjoy.
Mr Samuel usually goes to fish at night🌃, because he believes that the fishes usually flows to the upside of the water when it's dark. So on this faithful night, Mr Samuel went fishing as usual, he took his lamp, and his fishing equipments with him.
After about 3 hours, Mr Samuel realised that he hadn't gotten any fish, so he went far far into the larger waters to seek for some fishes which he would sell the next day, but his fishing net didn't catch any fish. All the fishermen who came to the river before him were equally complaining that the fishes had all ran away from this region.
"Let me cast in my net one more time" said Mr Samuel to himself, and just as he casted his net into the water, the dark sky became filled up with countless bright and shinny stars🌟. Everyone was wondering what had happened, as the stars shone beautifully through the rivers.
It was then Mr Samuel realised that he had caught a very little shinny fish🐟 in his net. At first he taught of putting the fish back to the river, because it seems very useless to him, but he then changed his mind and decided to carry the fish home.
As he was about to leave the water bank, he heard a little voice which cried for help, "Please-Put-Me-Back-Into-The River," Mr Samuel Wondered and looked around to know where the voice could be coming from at such a late hour of the night. As he tried to continue his movement, he heard the same voice pleading louder this time, "Please-Put-Me-Back-Into-The River," and he was opportuned to see the little fish he caught talking to him.
Mr Samuel was surprised about such a mysterious fish and he didn't even believe what he was seeing, as he tried to ignore what the fish was saying, but the fish cried again and this time she promise to grant any of his wish.
"I am the Princess of all the fishes in this area—we had a royal meeting in this area—which was why all the other fishes left this water side—Please-Put-Me-Back-Into-The River—and I will grant anything you wish for,"
Mr Samuel then decided to let the little fish into the river, but he didn't request for any wish from it. As the little fish got into the river, it was very happy with the good fisherman, so she told him that he can come back to the waterside and make a wish anytime he wants to, and it will be granted.
When Samuel went home to his wife, he told her everything that happened between him and the little fish, but his wife wasn't happy with him and she abused her husband for missing such a golden opportunity. "You are poor and I have been enduring so much hardship for so long, Go back to that river and wish for a big mansion", she said angrily.
Mr Samuel did as his wife has requested, as he went to the river side and called out the little magical fish🐟. Mr Samuel wished for a very big mansion, and the little magical fish happily granted his wish, so when he got home he saw that his little hut has turned to a very big mansion. His wife Mrs Clara was very happy with new development, but she wasn't satisfied, as she her husband to go back to the magical fish and wish for 5 big cars to fit in the house.
Mr Samuel did as his wife had instructed him, and the little magical fish happily granted his wish again. Mrs Clara was really happy about this, and she told her husband that they needed bodyguards in this house and that he should go and wish for few bodyguards.
Mr Samuel went to the little magical fish and wished for some bodyguards and it was happily granted to him. When he got home, he meet his wife complaining that this bodyguards are really too small in statue, and she told her husband to go back and wish for bigger bodyguards. Mr Samuel and his wife wished for basically everything they desired and it was granted to them.
But on one faithful day, Mrs Clara told her husband that they were now richer than the King of their land, and that it would be great if Mr Samuel becomes the new king of their land. she then told her husband to go and wish to become the King of the land.
Mr Samuel went to the river and called out the little magical fish as usual, and he wished to become the King of their land.
The little magical fish was not happy with that, as she angrily told Mr Samuel that he is a greedy man and that he is never contented with what he has. She then told him to go back to his poor and miserable house, as she left angrily.
When Mr Samuel got home, he saw that all the riches he had acquired has all gone away, and his life is now back to how it used to be. He met his wife crying, and regretting that she shouldn't have done what she did. From that day on, Mr Samuel and his wife learnt to be contented with what they had.
