The Four-Step Model of Habits

1 . Cue

the first stage towards this habit formation is "cue" , this is a kind of trigger of the habit.

Cue can be defined as anything that makes you think of doing a particular behaviour, it can be an emotion , your environment , location , people you surround yourself with etc, it occurs before the main habit takes place.

so discussing the psychological aspect of this , we can say that our brain enters a habitual mode we it senses this cue thereby triggering the beginig of this behaviour.

cues are very crucial because it has a way of allowing the brain to anticpate rewards and thereby initiating the habit loop.

An individual might feel the urge to eat a particular type of snacks at a particular time maybe 1pm daily , this is because your brain has assoiciated hunger of that snacks at a particular time of the day which is 1pm.

the first step to either starting or stoping a habit is to identify the cue.
