In as much as identity change require a consistent action , a shift in belief is also needed.
You need to believe within yourself that you can really become the type of person you want to be. With the accumulation of small wins , this belief is developed gradually.
The author suggested a way to stregnthen this belief is to surround your self with people who already have the identity you are looking for or maybe who already posses the habit that you are trying to embrace.
identifying yourself with people or community that are in full support of your desired identity , you are bound to receive social reinforcement that has a way to solidify the belief in yourself.
