The concept of belonging is actually one of the compelling idea as can be seen from this chapter. The most powerful force that drives human behavior is the desire to belong. so you see , when we have that strong desire to join and having satisfied that desire , we tend to justify this action by actually adopting the behaviors of people within the group just to fit in.

Someone that joins a book club is more likely to adopt the habit of reading regularly just to be able to particpate in discussions.

We are not only provided with motivation when we join a group , but also have this sense of accountability created within us .
