Create a Habit Contract
Continued from last post
Another commitment device which i also deemed to be very effective is the "habit contract" , this involves you writing down your goals and then have someone to hold you accountable incase you fail to engage in the habit.
Let say that you are a smoker that wants to quite smoking , you can enter or sign a contract that says that if you smoke , you will pay a certain amount of money to a friend.
If you are going to the gym ,you can enter into an agreement with your gym partner that whoever skips the gym will pay a fee or do an extra session.
Introducing social and financial stakes adds an extra layer of accountability to the habit which makes failure to become less appealing.
