Overthinking is defined as spending too much time thinking about or analyzing (something) in a way that is detrimental rather than beneficial.
Overthinkers may have difficulty distinguishing between the fear of making a mistake, which causes them to overthink to the point of making no decision, and a strong sense that something is wrong.
Knowing whether your behavior is being guided by fear or intuition will help you get out of your head and take the next steps.
SIGNIFICANCE OF OVERTHINKING
It's difficult to follow along with and contribute to a conversation because you go over potential responses or statements over and over until the conversation ends or the window for speaking has passed.
•Constantly comparing yourself to those around you and seeing how you compare
•concentrating on worst-case scenarios involving yourself or those you care about
•You're unable to move past past failures or mistakes because you're reliving them over and over again.
•Worrying about upcoming tasks and/or goals until they seem nearly impossible to achieve
•Reliving a traumatic event from the past (such as abuse or the death of a loved one) and being unable to cope with it
•An inability to control the racing thoughts, worries, or emotions.
HOW DO I STOP OVERTHINKING?
•Consider what could go right rather than what could go wrong.
•Distract yourself from your misery. Consider a positive outcome.
•Stop expecting perfection.
•Accept your best effort. Enjoy your little wins
•Recognize that you are a work in progress and that you are not immune to making mistakes.
•While you wait for what you want, be grateful for what you have.
Stop overthinking and take action right now.
Thanks for your time!
