On Sunday morning I decided I would take a bus to Jomtien city and beach I have been living in Bangkok city far to long and have decided I need a change although I love Bangkok city I have always loved living more near a beach and Jomtien city has always been appealing to me for the reasons, it a beautiful clean city, it has a nice long stretch of white sand beach and it's a cheaper city to live in then Bangkok.
Jomtien city is the closest beach to Bangkok city been less then a couple hours away from Bangkok city, Jomtien beach becomes a bit like Miami beach on the weekends many Bangkok residence will escape to Jomtien city to enjoy the beach life and all the fresh cheap seafood they can eat they sit around on the beach under them big shady trees or under all them colorful beach umbrellas lined along the whole stretch of the beach, it's like one big family enjoying there barbecue seafood and many more varieties of Thai foods available from the many street food vendors along Beach Road.
I honestly didn't expect to see so many people in Jomtiem city, it seemed like half of Bangkok city was here the atmosphere and the vibes were just awesome Thailand seems to be recovering quite well from the pandemic the people looked more relaxed as the money has started flowing back in for these hard working Thai people who never gave up hope.
Jomtien city has always for years been known as one big resort city with it's beautiful long stretch of white sand beach and all it's luxurious beach front resorts, foreigners have been flocking here for centuries and is home to many foreign retirees who like the tropical warm weathers and the un-stressful conditions that is why I am here I want to be part of this amazing Jomtien city, so I am looking to move here.
Looking around this city on Sunday made me feel alive again and that change was looking more invertible I had made arrangements to met up with a friend who runs one of the biggest real estate agencies here in Jomtien city, he had about half a dozen beach front apartments for me to look at all been high rise building up to 22 floors. I didn't want to go any higher then that in fact I have never lived in buildings of any more then 6 floors high so this was going to be different and exciting because the views here would be different to Bangkok city.
The other part that made me more excited was the quality of the apartments much newer, spacious and a whole lot cheaper like almost half price to what I have been paying in Bangkok city, with my 50 sqm studio apartment in Bangkok city with reasonable furniture but nothing flashy with city views is costing me $480 US per/month including water and electricity were as in Jomtien beach a 50 sqm studio apartment with beach views better quality furniture and bigger balcony would cost me $280 per/month including water and electricity so you know now where I will be living by the end of this month near the beach as I have always wanted.
I certainly did I hadn't seen Thai people gathered like that since the pandemic I was shocked to see them back to normal. I am looking forward moving to Jomtien how did you find it any tips ...!!
Depends what you like. The beach heading south, when the beach turns into a wall of rocks, was largely undeveloped at the time. I lived in a house, set back from the beach, prob Dongtan rather than Jomtien itself, tho they join up as one. Was kinda peaceful at the time. lol.
Pay a big premium for a "sea view", so depends if that's important.
@ajerkoff lived there too (not with me!) and maybe more recently. I think he also lived in-land - for me, the living space was more important than being able to see the sea.
I just added a comment as to where I stopped or a few of the places, I also stopped just behind Jomtien in a village just over on the dark side over sukumvit road in a house for a year.
OK, if he has wheels that makes it more flexible.
The other thing I recall is to find out where the owner lives (if renting) - not that you really wanna go round there... but you might have to!
One place I rented in Jomtien near the tower, apartment block called Kian Talay I rented off my female hair dresser, not hard to find her, she cut my hair every 2 weeks :-)
Thank you @ajerkoff and @blurtyield for your input on this I decided on a condo down near Dongtan beach area it seemed quieter and only 300 meters from the beach also close to shopping area like FoodMart.
I lived 100 meters from the beach in Jomtien a few times, once at the orange house long stay hotel, and the long stay hotel next to it, had an apartment 1/4 of a mile away too by the tower that you pay to go up and can come down with a hand slide bar, I did.
It is much quieter there than down in Pattaya, I did 10 years on and off as you know and always tried to get into Jomtien first if possible. I stopped in Kian Talay apartments for 2 years, a stones throw from the beach again. There are loads of things to do there, you will like it for sure.
Wow, that’s a lot of things to see there. I’ve been there only one time in my life(my own country lol) It was many years ago. Great to see it again and thanks for sharing it :)
And it would be great living there.
Hope you’re having a good time :)
If you go to the end of beach road where it turns left to suckumvit road, the opposite end to KFC, there is a superb fish and other food outdoor restaurant, and after you leave there continue the same direction and you come to the elephant village with a shooting range, oh the memories.
lol. You picked a long holiday weekend! Hence all the Bangkokians have left the city. I lived in Jomtien, maybe 12 years ago, for a year.

Thanks for that info @ajerkoff will check it out once I have settled in Jomtien.
Welcome buddy.
We lived there for four years - first jontiem, then pattaya, then pattaya 'darkside' (other side of sukhumvit).
It's great place to live if you want some activity and some bussle
(pattaya itself, is busier at night).
Have a good one , matey !
