Body odor can be caused by improperly cleaning your armpits. Therefore you need to pay more attention to that area when bathing.
Dermatologist Ranella Hirsch, MD, as quoted by the New York Post, explained that unpleasant underarm odor generally comes from sweat and bacteria on the skin. Bathing is one way to get rid of body odor, but it can't be done carelessly.
Mary Futher, also known as Madame Sweat on TikTok, said that most people don't wash their armpits properly. This influencer, whose content educates followers about tips for maintaining cleanliness, revealed that the average mistake is in using soap.
In a 24-second video that went viral on TikTok, Mary suggested that you should not use scented soap when washing your armpits. Because that will only make your armpits smell even worse in the future.
"If you wash your armpits like this with tutti-frutti scented soap, I guarantee you will still have the remains of yesterday's deodorant in your armpits," he said, while imitating a quick underarm rub.
In the video, which has been viewed more than 2.5 million times, Mary said that the correct way to clean is to rub each armpit for 30 seconds. He also suggests using antibacterial soap.
More specifically, Mary said that soap containing apple cider vinegar, salt and charcoal is the best for getting rid of unpleasant underarm odor.
"For those of you who have hair in your armpits, you have to rub it until it is really clean so that the residue from yesterday's deodorant disappears," he said.
Mary also added that it's best not to dry your armpits with a towel because you could be exposed to bacteria again. It's best to use a soft, dry cloth after cleaning your armpits.
Nice write-up ❤️
